  • Patent number: 7492127
Abstract: Described is a method which includes a step of initiating a calibration state of a battery status system. The calibration state including charging a battery to a first threshold value; discharging the battery to a second threshold value; and calibrating the battery status system based on the first and second threshold values. Subsequently, the method includes a step of exiting the calibration state. Described is also a portable computing device which includes invades a battery; a controller; and an application executed on the controller for performing calibration of a battery status system of the battery. The application drives the battery to a threshold state and performs the calibration when the battery reaches the threshold state.

  • Publication number: 20080141052
Abstract: A device having a plurality of contact points providing connectivity between the device and a further device, a detection point providing connectivity between the device and the further device, wherein, as the further device is disconnected from the device, the detection point is disconnected prior to at least a portion of the plurality of contact points and a processor detecting the disconnection of the detection point and performing an action related to the detection of the disconnection.

  • Patent number: 5610496
Abstract: A portable device such as a bar-code reader employing a dual battery control system whereby an auxiliary battery powers the portable device until a primary battery is automatically connected to continue powering the portable device is disclosed. The portable device employs an electrical interface means which operatively connects with an interface means of a holster in which the portable device is placed. The holster comprises some or all of the circuitry necessary to properly control first and second switch means which connect or disconnect the primary and auxiliary batteries from the electronic load of the portable device.
