    Abstract: A pressure pump may include a reciprocating assembly including a dynamic seal configured to be in sliding contact with a surface. The surface may be implanted with positive ions such as hydrogen ions/protons to provided reduced wear and/or greater service life of the dynamic seal. According to embodiments, a pump may include an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene dynamic seal may substantially fixed relative to a cylinder wall, and a proton impregnated reciprocating plunger may pump high pressure water or a water based fluid in a system. The pump may exhibit increased dynamic seal life.

    Abstract: A hydraulic drilling jar for use in association with downhole drilling and adaptable for connection between components of a drill string or the like. The hydraulic drilling jar generally comprises an outer generally hollow hydraulic housing, an inner mandrel assembly, an anvil portion, a hammer portion, and a hydraulic valve. The hydraulic housing has an enclosed first end and an open second end with the first end releasably securable to a first component of the drill string. The mandrel has a first end releasably securable to a second component of the drill string and a second end slidably receivable within the open second end of the hydraulic housing to forming an internal fluid chamber between the mandrel and the housing. The mandrel is also slidable within the outer housing from a contracted position to an extended position. The hydraulic housing and the mandrel operatively connect the first and second components of the drill string.

    Abstract: In a pressure vessel, pressure fitting, or pressure component, service use may result in the propagation of fatigue cracks. According to embodiments, a leak channel may be designed and formed to cause a pressurized fluid nominally contained by the pressure member to leak after formation of a fatigue crack, rather than undergoing a more catastrophic burst failure. According to an embodiment, a method is taught for determining the propensity of fatigue cracks to form, determining the location of the possible fatigue cracks, and determining a location for a leak channel, leak hole, weep hole, etc. for preventing burst failure. According to an embodiment, a computer program performs steps to design leak channels for prevention of burst failures in favor of leak-before-burst (LBB) failures.
