  • Publication number: 20240046904
Abstract: A chanter of a wind instrument is disclosed. The chanter comprises a bulb 106 and a chimney section 102. The bulb 106 or at least a portion thereof is located adjacent and around an external surface or wall 103b of the chimney section 102 of the chanter. At least a portion of the bulb 106 is spaced apart from the chimney section 102 thereby forming or defining a gap around at least a portion of the external surface or wall 103b of the chimney section 102 and at least a portion of an internal surface 104a of the bulb 106 or the upper section 104. Such arrangement allows for free vibrations of the chimney section 102 that is proximal to the chimney reed of the chanter thereby allowing the vibrancy of the sound to be increased.

  • Patent number: 8386843
Abstract: A high speed data processing system is described comprising first and second data processing modules and first and second data checking modules. The first and second data processing modules are each arranged to perform substantially the same processing steps on data received at said data input, with each providing an output. The first and second checking modules are arranged to compare the outputs of said first and second data processing modules and to output an error signal indicative of whether or not said first and second data processing modules have performed substantially the same processing steps. The first and second checking modules are located on physically separate devices. In some arrangements a third checking module is provided, which checking module may be physically separated from each of said first and second checking modules.

  • Patent number: 7078624
Abstract: A power cord that has two safety prongs. A replacement outlet cover is also provided that has corresponding side slots to receive the safety prongs. When the power cord is inserted into the outlet, the safety prongs engage the side slots, which then hold the power cord in place. Once the safety prongs are engaged, the two buttons on the side of the cord head must be compressed to remove the power cord. This type of action is beyond the motor skills of small children, thus making the power cord totally safe for use around children. Moreover, removing the power cords is a simple task for adults, which makes them more likely to be used than more-complicated covers and locks. The power cords can be sold as a kit with a replacement outlet box cover for a low price.

Moreover, removing the covers is a simple task for adults, which makes them more likely to be used than more complicated covers and locks. The covers can be sold as a kit with a replacement outlet box cover for a low price. Power cords can thus be made safe by preventing them from being easily pulled out of outlets.

  • Patent number: 6832921
Abstract: A removable cap that has two safety prongs. A replacement outlet cover is also provided that has corresponding side slots to receive the safety clips. When the cap is inserted into the outlet, the safety prongs engage the side slots, which then hold the cap in place. Once the safety prongs are engaged, the removable cap must be compressed to remove the cap. This type of action is beyond the motor skills of small children, thus making the caps totally safe for use around children. Moreover, removing the caps is a simple task for adults, which makes them more likely to be used than more complicated covers and locks. The caps can be sold as a kit with a replacement outlet box cover for a low price. Power cords can also be made with the safety prongs to prevent them from being easily pulled out of outlets.
