  • Patent number: 11566589
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to providing an EGR cooler including a barrier layer applied to EGR cooler components while allowing sufficient heat transfer between exhaust gases and the cooling medium. A barrier layer may be applied onto particular surfaces of the EGR cooler components to prevent deposition of hydrocarbons or soot on the EGR cooler components. In some arrangements, the barrier layer may comprise a refractory solid oxide. In other arrangements, an EGR cooler may comprise a catalytic barrier layer. The catalytic barrier layer may include a refractory solid oxide and a platinum group metal or mixed metal oxide to prevent accumulation of varnish material deposited onto EGR cooler components.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 19, 2022
Date of Patent: January 31, 2023
Assignee: International Engine Intellectual Property Company, LLC
Inventors: Navtej Singh, Bradley Jay Adelman, Timothy M. Lyons, Paul Lawrence Berke, Darren William Gosbee, John C. McCuisition

  • Publication number: 20170234188
Abstract: Reductant is metered into an engine exhaust gas after-treatment system upstream of an SCR catalyst at engine exhaust gas temperatures both less than and greater than a DEF dosing threshold temperature to render the catalyst effective in reducing NOx without creating undesired reaction products which would impair effectiveness of the after-treatment system at engine exhaust gas temperatures less than the DEF dosing threshold temperature.

  • Publication number: 20170113745
Abstract: A ride height adjustment of a vehicle traveling along a roadway is controlled by a controller which uses data about overpass clearances and the height of the highest point on the vehicle to lower vehicle height when the height can be lowered sufficiently to avoid collision with an overpass.
