Patent number: 11892164Abstract: A viewport for a combustion zone includes an inner casing having a flange extending into the combustion zone. A first layer of ceramic fiber insulation is exterior to the inner casing. A middle casing includes two panes of quartz glass separated by traverse plates. A second layer of ceramic fiber insulation is exterior to the middle casing. An outer casing is positioned to the exterior of the second layer of insulation. The middle casing includes L-shaped ledges having third and fourth layers of ceramic insulation. The panes of glass are each positioned between layers of insulation and the insulation positioned in the L-shaped ledges. The viewport is modular enabling the separation of the first layer of insulation, the middle casing, the second layer of insulation and the outer casing from the combustion zone for maintenance or repair. The viewport minimizes heat migration to the outer casing during use.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2023Date of Patent: February 6, 2024Assignee: HRST, Inc.Inventors: Lester Stanley, Darryl Nagel, Robert Tretter, Joshua Himes, Matthew Adams, Lauri Reponen, Thomas George, Russell Marzette

Patent number: 10281172Abstract: A liner fabrication tool includes a handle engaged to a first cam support and a second cam support where each of the cam supports has forward edge. An axle extends between the first cam support and the second cam support. A gripper is rotatably engaged to the axle between the first cam support and the second cam support. The gripper includes a first wall, a second wall, and a base extending between the first wall and the second wall, the base has an opening where the opening is positioned between and proximate to the forward edges. The opening receives a pin of a liner and insulation system where rotation of the handle in a forward direction applies leverage against the first cam support and the second cam support to bind the pin in the opening and compress the liner and insulation system immediately prior to welding.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2016Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: HRST, Inc.Inventors: Robert James Krowech, Darryl Nagel

Publication number: 20070126229Abstract: A hot gas seal for a conduits penetrating the wall(s) of a vessel such as a heat recovery steam generator unit. The seal will permit lateral movement greater than 2 inches (typically 2? to 10?) and unlimited axial movement without seal degradation and failure. The instant seal has a life expectancy of at least ten years. The seal includes three serially-arranged, independent insulation segments or pillows. The pillow adjacent the vessel casing and the center pillow employ metal sheets to sandwich insulation therebetween. The center pillow travels laterally with the conduit. The third or outer pillow terminates in a split seal ring having containment structure attached thereto.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2005Publication date: June 7, 2007Inventors: Robert Krowech, Darryl Nagel, Douglass Yaeger
