  • Patent number: 8749486
Abstract: A method and apparatus for touch detection, multi-touch detection and cursor control in which the acceleration of a control surface is sensed to provide sensed signals. The control surface is supported at one or more support positions and moves in response to a force applied by a user at a touch position. The sensed signals are received in a processing unit where they are used to estimate a change in the position of force application. A touch control signal is generated from the estimated change in touch position. The touch control signal may be output to a graphical user interface, where it may be used, for example, to control various elements such as mouse clicks, scroll controls, control of single or multiple cursors, or manipulation of views of an object on a visual display unit, or remote control manipulation of objects themselves.

  • Publication number: 20130276139
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recovering a content signal from media stream protected by a digital rights management (DRM) system. A content access device includes a network interface configured to receive the protected media stream from a remote content provider via a network and a plurality of distinct DRM components corresponding to DRM systems supported by the content access device. A content extraction unit is operable to select a DRM component of the plurality of DRM components and execute the selected DRM component to recover a content signal from the protected media stream. When a search engine is used to discover available content, a list of references to available content is presented to the user, the presentation being dependent upon whether or not the content is protected by a DRM system supported by the content access device.

  • Patent number: 8055989
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system for providing a security and method of providing an enhanced security booting environment. The system and method includes a basic input/output system (BIOS) stored in memory. The system and method also includes a counter embedded in the memory configured to monitor the number of times each block of the memory has been written. This information could be used with existing error detection mechanisms to improve the ability to detect unintended write operations.

  • Publication number: 20090323799
Abstract: An embodiment of a network of extendable computer resources creates a virtual computing environment for a remote client. The network allocates at least some of the extendable computer resources to the virtual computing environment and compressively represents video output information of the virtual computing environment as an encoded data stream. The encoded data stream is communicated to the remote client, and input information to control the resources allocated to the virtual computing environment is received from the remote client. An embodiment of a local computing client receives a multiframe motion picture stream of encoded signals that represent the video output of a virtual computing environment hosted by a remote computer source. The local computing client decodes the motion picture stream, accepts input information operable to control the virtual computing environment, and communicates the input information to the remote computer source.
