  • Publication number: 20170365230
Abstract: Techniques for displaying a multimedia in at least two resolutions are discussed. Depending on implementation, a resolution can be a spatial resolution, an intensity level resolution, or both. A display device is designed to ensure better resolution in an area (region of focus or ROF) being focused by eyes of a viewer while relatively poor resolution in the area surrounding the ROF. The ROF moves accordingly with the motion of the pupil. As a result, the perceived resolution by the user remains high while the memory requirement for displaying such media is significantly reduced.

  • Patent number: 9560293
Abstract: An exemplary display device is a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), the on-screen imager is referred to as an LCD imager. Without affecting the display functions of an LCD device, an image sensing module is provided behind or within an LCD unit in the LCD device. By controlling the liquid crystals in the LCD unit, the reflected light from an object placed against the LCD device to be imaged is allowed to pass through the LCD unit and projected onto an image sensor in the image sensing module to generate an image of the object. The imager includes an optical assembly having at least one wedge shaped light guide to collect and focus the reflected light from the object onto an image sensor, where the image sensor is disposed at an end of the wedge shaped light guide.

  • Patent number: 9328887
Abstract: Techniques related to generating daylight-like light from green laser and magenta phosphor are disclosed. Such light may be used in headlights of vehicles. The daylight-like light generated from green laser and filtered through magenta phosphor is almost white or substantially white. The white laser is generated from green laser that is filtered through magenta phosphor. The green laser is well known for producing the highest perceived intensity among all colored lasers with equal or similarly provided energy and is low to obtain in cost.

  • Patent number: 9241082
Abstract: Scanners built in display devices that can be controlled to have a moment of see-through either entirely or on a specified portion are described. During the see-through moment, a scanning object (e.g., a currency bill) placed against the display is scanned, hence on-screen scanner. An exemplary such display device is a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). Without affecting the display functions of an LCD device, an image sensing module is provided with light sources. By controlling the liquid crystals in the LCD unit, the reflected light from an object placed against the LCD device to be imaged is projected onto an image sensor (or array) to generate an image of the object.
