  • Patent number: 7633282
Abstract: A multi-scanner device having a detection unit and an outlet tester that can be selectively connected together for convenient use and easy storage. Preferably, a plug on the outlet tester is inserted into a non-functional socket located on the detection unit to form a multi-scanner device with a detachable outlet tester.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 17, 2007
Date of Patent: December 15, 2009
    Assignee: Actuant Corporation
Inventors: Patrick J. Radle, Daryl C. Brockman, David L. Wiesemann
  • Publication number: 20090212785
Abstract: A tester is disclosed for testing a wiring state of a live electrical receptacle outlet. The tester comprises a body having a display located thereon and a plug extending from the body. The display is configured to selectively provide a text indicator. When the plug of the tester is received in the electrical outlet, the display indicates the wiring state of the electrical outlet.

  • Patent number: 7468674
Abstract: A hand tool and an accessory which provide an alarm signal to a user as the tool or accessory approaches a live electrical wire are disclosed. The hand tool or accessory include a non-contact voltage sensing circuit. As the tool or accessory approaches a live electrical wire, the non-contact voltage sensing circuit detects the voltage, triggering an alarm circuit. The alarm circuit provides a visual or audio signal to the user. The hand tool can be selectively coupled to the tool head.

  • Publication number: 20080196910
Abstract: A power hand drill or other power tool includes at least one of a detachable non-contact voltage sensing device and a detachable subsurface object locator for detecting the presence of an object beneath a surface being probed with the locator. The drill has a housing with a flat accessory mounting surface including coupling elements for coupling the sensing module to the drill. The accessory device includes a mating coupling element to engage with the coupling element in the drill housing. The non-contact voltage sensing circuitry includes sensing circuitry contained within a housing with an antenna that is positioned opposite a tool head of the power tool, and an indicator mounted to the module for indicating the presence of a voltage.

  • Patent number: 7100900
Abstract: A fish tape assembly has a flat tape made of a hybrid composite of electrically non-conductive materials, preferably a fiberglass core surrounded by a nylon jacket. The flat tape has a rectilinear lateral cross-section with its width dimension being greater than its thickness. A non-conductive feed piece is bonded to the leading end of the fish tape. The feed piece has a wedged leading end. A non-conductive anchor piece is bonded to the trailing end of the fish tape to attach the fish tape to a reel assembly. The anchor piece is angled to mount the fish tape in a generally tangential direction relative to the reel.

  • Patent number: 7071418
Abstract: A cable fastener for stacking cables has a base that is positioned against the stud on a lower surface of the base, a spine that extends from the upper surface of the base and arms that extend perpendicularly from the spine and define slots between them. The slots have open ends that are closed by a separate L-shaped leg that is hinged to the base adjacent to the end of the lower-most slot so it can be pivoted to a position generally perpendicular to the base and adjacent to the ends of the slots so as to close the slots. The end of the leg distal from the base has a locking member for engaging the uppermost arm or another component of the fastener to lock the leg so as to block the open ends of the slots. The leg is hinged to the base by a living hinge that can be formed in the plastic molding process. On the side of the spine opposite from the arms, a nail guide member extends for nailing the fastener to the stud.
