  • Patent number: 5156176
Abstract: A device for supporting an unstable ambulatory patient while walking. The device is similar to a customary walker except that the user is additionally supported by a harness attaching the user to the walker by a readily releasable latch or snap device, and the legs of the walker are springable to provide both for a broader base of the walker to inhibit tipping and to reduce the jolt to the patient should the patient fall. The walker is designed for independent use by the patient.

  • Patent number: 5065865
Abstract: A device for wrapping elastic bandages at uniform tension including a holding compartment for holding a roll of the bandage. The bandage then is entrained over a metering roll which has an adjustable tension control to make sure of uniform tension. The metering roll has a surface formed to provide positive engagement with the bandage.

  • Patent number: 4942988
Abstract: A device for spreading elastic stockings so that the user can more readily insert a foot and leg into the stocking. The device includes two looped ends to be inserted into the stocking. The loops are hinged together so that they can be moved from a closed position for insertion of the device into the stocking to a spread position in which the foot or leg is inserted into the stocking along side the loops. The hinge includes a slide which allows free movement in the closed position, but slides into a releasable locked engagement in the spread position.

  • Patent number: 4789087
Abstract: An improvement on the device disclosed in my previous U.S. Pat. No. 4,637,532 for a device for assisting in the putting on of elastic hosiery. The current invention includes the improvement of providing an expandable tip to open the stocking even wider than was possible with my previous device. The expansion is accomplished by dividing the portion over which the stocking is placed; biasing the two split parts to a normally closed position, and providing a latch to hold the device in an open position while it is in use.

  • Patent number: 4637532
Abstract: A device to assist in the donning of elastic hosiery. The device includes a form for holding the hosiery, one part of which can be spread from the rest to open and stretch the hosiery. The device is elongated to be used in the same manner as a shoehorn. A base may be provided so that the spreading can be foot operated or power operated by use of a hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical means. The device also is formed so that the stocking will be releasably retained on the device while the ease of sliding the foot into the stocking is enhanced.
