  • Publication number: 20030235493
Abstract: As compared to a conventional wind turbine, in the turbine utilized in this invention, one or more large external ring exists at the end-point of the blades. These rings are firmly connected, in an X-shaped construct, to the end-point of the central axle, by way of a system of truss-type tensile cables. Other paired cables, extended from the large external ring, are connected to the mid-point of the central axle. The sheets, which cover these paired cables, constitute the stretched blades. The said paired cables are installed, in oblique angle relative to the surface of the ring, so that the wind current would push them in a direction opposite to the angle of pressure. The set of these stretched blades, that fill the space between the large ring and the central angle, constitute the wind turbine.

  • Patent number: 6019021
Abstract: A hand tool provides a slender elongated shape having a pair of finger actuation plates, one of which drives an interior rod. The end of the tool is adapted with a fixed jaw and a movable jaw attached to the interior rod. With the tool held in the manner of a pencil, the thumb and first finger are in position for moving the actuation plates so as to produce corresponding motion in the jaws. The tool allows the sensitive motion and tactile feedback inherent to the fingers to be transferred along the length of the tool for grasping, cutting and other useful actions.

  • Patent number: 5619948
Abstract: A powered swimming aid comprising a stabilizing member attached to the users back, and buoyancy device rigidly attached to the stabilizing member, the buoyancy device being located below the user's hips so as to cause the body to rotate to a good swimming position. The rigid structure also has mounted on it a drive mechanism terminating in a propeller located below the user's hips so as to cause the body to rotate to a good swimming position. The rigid structure also has mounted on it a drive mechanism terminating in a propeller located below the user's knees to provide powered motion in the motor. A buoyant board has side handles and a control for controlling the drive mechanism. A buoyant vest is worn on the user's chest.

  • Patent number: 5339712
Abstract: A hand tool is disclosed that includes a first handle that provides at one end a first hinge joint extending in a first direction and a hollow tube extending in the other direction. A fixed work element is attached at a distal end of the tube. A second handle is aligned with the first handle and provides a second hinge joint that extends in rotational engagement with the first hinge joint and includes a first set of gear teeth facing the tube. A hinge pin is pivotally engaged with and aligns the first and second hinge joints. As such, the second handle is rotatable toward and away from the first handle about the pin. A transfer rod is rotatably held within the hollow tube and extends therethrough to a movable work element that is positioned adjacent to the fixed work element. A toothed gear segment is fixed to the transfer rod and includes a second set of gear teeth that engages the first set of gear teeth.

  • Patent number: 5336135
Abstract: In one embodiment the amusement device is a series of trampolines arranged vertically and offset to allow a user, starting at the top to spring serially from the uppermost to lower trampolines. A tram can deliver the user to the top. In another embodiment, a trampoline is described which has a rigid support structure except for a portion which is deflectable when excess force is applied so as to prevent injury to a user.

  • Patent number: 5188552
Abstract: A swimming aid including a lower torso buoyancy device to be worn by the user which will impart buoyancy to the lower torso of the user. The lower torso buoyancy device is attached to and part of a rigid frame which is held onto the back of the user particularly at the lower torso and at the shoulders to enable the lower torso to be lifted and oriented to place the user in a good position for swimming.

  • Patent number: 5157996
Abstract: A tool of the type having two handles and a pivot axis, and two extension members longitudinal axially aligned with the pivot axis and each attached at one end to one of the handles and having at the other end working tool members positioned for opposed operation so that the handles operate in one plane and the working tool members operate in a parallel offset plane.
