  • Publication number: 20070082282
Abstract: An electrophotographic imaging member having a charge generating layer and a charge transport layer overlayed thereon is provided. The charge transport layer has a lower surface and an upper surface, wherein the lower surface is in contiguous contact with the charge generating layer. The charge transport layer comprises a film forming polymer binder and a charge transport compound molecularly dispersed or dissolved therein to form a solid solution. The concentration of the charge transport compound in the charge transport layer decreases from the lower surface to the upper surface. In such a construction, the resulting charge transport layer exhibits enhanced cracking suppression, improved wear resistance, excellent imaging member electrical performance, and improved copy print out quality.

  • Publication number: 20060081841
Abstract: A composition including a polymer and a liquid, wherein the polymer exhibits lower solubility in the liquid at room temperature but exhibits greater solubility in the liquid at an elevated temperature, wherein the composition gels when the elevated temperature is lowered to a first lower temperature without agitation, wherein the viscosity of the composition results from a process comprising (a) dissolving at the elevated temperature at least a portion of the polymer in the liquid; (b) lowering the temperature of the composition from the elevated temperature to the first lower temperature; and (c) agitating the composition to disrupt any gelling, wherein the agitating commences at any time prior to, simultaneous with, or subsequent to the lowering the elevated temperature of the composition to the first lower temperature, wherein the amount of the polymer dissolved in the liquid at the elevated temperature ranges from about 0.2% to about 5% based on the total weight of the polymer and the liquid.

  • Publication number: 20050017237
Abstract: An electronic device includes a semiconductor layer in contact with a number of electrodes, wherein the semiconductive layer includes a compound wherein either or both of the following geometric isomers of the compound are present: wherein: n is 1, 2 or 3 for the polycyclic moiety; and R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrocarbon ring and a heterocyclic group, wherein R1 and R2 are the same or different hydrocarbon ring, the same or different heterocyclic group, or one of R1 and R2 is the hydrocarbon ring and the other the heterocyclic group.

  • Patent number: 5563261
Abstract: A process for the preparation of hydroxygallium phthalocyanines which comprises hydrolyzing a gallium phthalocyanine precursor pigment by dissolving said hydroxygallium phthalocyanine in a strong acid and then reprecipitating the resulting dissolved pigment in basic aqueous media; removing any ionic species formed by washing with water, concentrating the resulting aqueous slurry comprised of water and hydroxygallium phthalocyanine to a wet cake; removing water from said slurry by azeotropic distillation with an organic solvent, and subjecting said resulting pigment slurry to mixing with the addition of a second solvent to cause the formation of said hydroxygallium phthalocyanine polymorphs.

  • Patent number: 5521306
Abstract: A process for the preparation of Type V hydroxygallium phthalocyanine which comprises the in situ formation of an alkoxy-bridged gallium phthalocyanine dimer, hydrolyzing said alkoxy-bridged gallium phthalocyanine dimer to hydroxygallium phthalocyanine, and subsequently converting the hydroxygallium phthalocyanine product obtained to Type V hydroxygallium phthalocyanine.
