  • Patent number: 11188499
Abstract: Provided are techniques for storing and retrieving restricted datasets to and from a cloud network with non-restricted datasets. A request to dump datasets from one or more storage devices to the cloud storage is received, wherein the datasets include restricted datasets and non-restricted datasets, and wherein the restricted datasets are in a format that is not supported by the cloud storage. The restricted datasets are identified. The restricted datasets are converted to a format that is supported by the cloud storage to generate converted datasets. The converted datasets and the non-restricted datasets are dumped to one container in the cloud storage.

  • Patent number: 11161253
Abstract: An apparatus, according to one embodiment, includes: an electromagnetic shaft, an expandable balloon coupled to a first end of the shaft, and a fluid reservoir. A conduit also extends between the fluid reservoir and an interior of the balloon. The apparatus also includes a selectively magnetizable fluid, at least a portion of which is contained in the fluid reservoir, and a pump for selectively transferring the magnetizable fluid from the fluid reservoir to the balloon. A pressure sensor for detecting a pressure of the magnetizable fluid, and a controller for controlling the pump are further included. Moreover, at least a portion of the shaft is flexible. Other systems, methods, and computer program products are described in additional embodiments.

  • Patent number: 11122437
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for using wireless communication networks to detect GPS spoofing are provided. Aspects include receiving, from each mobile device of a plurality of mobile devices, location data of the mobile device and a list of wireless communication networks indicated as being detected by the mobile device. Aspects also include selecting a test group of mobile devices including a group of at least two mobile devices that are located within a predetermined proximity to a candidate mobile device. Aspects also include determining a degree of similarity of wireless communication network visibility based on a comparison of the lists of wireless communication networks indicated as being detected by the candidate mobile device and the test group of mobile devices. In response to the degree of similarity failing to exceed a predetermined threshold, aspects also include determining that the candidate mobile device is spoofing its location.

  • Patent number: 10838641
Abstract: Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for defragmenting backup objects. A metadata object having first format addresses for data sets in data objects for a volume is copied to a temporary metadata object. The data sets in the data objects are copied to consecutive second format addresses in temporary data objects to defragment data in the data sets in the data objects. The first format and the second format addresses comprise different address formats. The temporary metadata object and the temporary data objects are stored in the storage to provide a backup of the volume.

  • Patent number: 10780560
Abstract: An embodiment includes instructing a light source to emit light within a hardware socket configured to disengage a hardware component from a mounting surface. Emitted light received at a detector while a first portion of the hardware component is in contact with the mounting surface is detected. One or more instructions are sent to cause a relative rotation between the hardware component and the mounting surface. The embodiment further includes detecting that the first portion of the hardware component is no longer in contact with the mounting surface, and recording an extent of relative rotation that occurs in response to the one or more instructions to disengage the first portion of the hardware component from the mounting surface until the detection that the first portion of the hardware component is no longer in contact with the mounting surface. The extent of relative rotation is stored.
