  • Patent number: 7400785
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for associating images. In one embodiment, a system and a method pertain to capturing an image of image association data, capturing other images to which the image association data is relevant, and associating the other images such that each of the other images will have a file name that is reflective of the captured image association data.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 13, 2003
Date of Patent: July 15, 2008
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: William Robert Haas, Kirk Steven Tecu, Dave Boll
  • Patent number: 7145701
Abstract: A scanner comprises a housing including a top wall defining an opening, the top wall of the housing further comprising an upper surface framing the opening. The upper surface of the top wall further comprises a horizontal planar portion and an object removal guide surface between the horizontal planar portion and the opening. A transparent platen supported by the top wall of the housing comprises an upper surface for supporting an object to be scanned, a lower surface parallel with the upper surface of the platen, and a peripheral edge, the horizontal planar portion of the upper surface of the top wall of the housing lying above the upper surface of the platen.

  • Patent number: 7019872
Abstract: A scanner comprises a transparent platen mounted on a housing, and an object-imaging device within the housing mounted for longitudinal movement relative to the platen and an object supported thereby. The object-imaging device is rotatable about a transverse axis and comprises an aperture for receiving light reflected from the object. The object-imaging device has a travel distance between a home end position and a back end position, the travel distance comprising a central portion and at least one end portion. The scanner further comprises a mechanism operatively associated with the object-imaging device for rotating the device about the transverse axis thereof in response to movement of the device within the at least one end portion of the travel distance, the device being rotated in a direction so that the light-receiving aperture is rotated away from the central portion of the travel distance.

  • Publication number: 20050050266
Abstract: Application data is stored in a redundant array of independent memories. In one embodiment, the application data is entered in a first memory. The first memory is parked when the first memory has received the application data. The second memory is unparked and application data is entered in the second memory. The second memory is also parked when the second memory has received the application data, thereby reducing the likelihood of losing application data due to physical impacts to the memories.

  • Publication number: 20050046716
Abstract: An imager apparatus comprises a pixel and a first filter positioned in an incident light path for a portion of the pixel, the filter being operable to alternate between transmitting and reducing incident light on the pixel portion.
