  • Patent number: 7788675
Abstract: In a traditional application server that uses servlets, when a request is dispatched to a thread the service method of the appropriate servlet is called. When the service method returns the response is sent. This is sub-optimal in the case that an asynchronous event must occur before the response can be sent, because the thread running the servlet must block until the event occurs. The invention provides for asynchronous processing of such requests. In one embodiment, the invention provides an extension to the Servlet API which allows the service method to return (and thus the thread to be freed) before the response is ready to be sent. Then when the asynchronous event later occurs the response may be completed and sent.

  • Patent number: 7675978
Abstract: A data coupler includes a transformer having primary and secondary windings, a data transmitter coupled to the primary winding of the transformer, and a data receiver coupled to the secondary winding. The data transmitter includes a first driver and a second driver having outputs coupled to respective ends of the primary winding. The first driver is responsive to a data signal and the second driver is responsive to a delayed version of the data signal, such that the primary winding is supplied with pulses representing a difference between the data signal and the delayed version of the data signal. The data coupler also includes an ac (alternating current) path to ground from the secondary winding for conducting to ground common mode signals coupled to the secondary winding via an inter-winding capacitance of the transformer.

  • Patent number: 7559286
Abstract: There is a solid fuel combustion apparatus comprising a heated enclosure, a burner connected to the heated enclosure, and a means for providing a solid fuel from a solid fuel reservoir to the heated enclosure. The means for providing a solid fuel aspirates the solid fuel into the heated enclosure by creating a vacuum at a location in the heated enclosure. The vacuum establishes a pressure differential between the location in the heated enclosure and the solid fuel reservoir, which thereby aspirates the solid fuel from the reservoir to the heated enclosure where it is combusted by a flame from the burner.

  • Patent number: 7424060
Abstract: A data coupler comprises two CMOS drivers which are supplied with a data signal and a delayed version of the data signal to drive a primary winding of a transformer with narrow pulses of opposite polarity corresponding to respective edges of the data signal. A secondary winding of the transformer is coupled via a low pass filter to a data receiver, with a ground path for ac from one end of the secondary winding. The drivers are scaled with a ratio (N?1):(N+1), where the transformer has a primary-to-secondary turns ratio of N:1 and N is greater than one, to equalize voltage drops in the drivers due to consequent unequal common mode currents in the drivers.

  • Patent number: 6574984
Abstract: A portable water dispensing module is mounted to a refrigerator door inner liner. The liner has side walls with aligned vertically spaced module supports. The water dispensing module comprises a reservoir having a fill chamber located above a main reservoir. The fill chamber has a lid that has an opening closed by a cap. The reservoir supports the fill chamber and has side walls with anchoring supports that releasably and matingly engage with the module supports on the liner side walls to mount the water dispensing module against the liner walls. A lower recessed portion of the front wall of the reservoir protects a spigot, mounted into the recess, from inadvertent contact with a user. The reservoir further includes recessed handle portions on the side walls located forward of the refrigerator door liner side walls and below the fill chamber to facilitate the portability of the water dispensing module from the refrigerator door.
