  • Patent number: 8352007
Abstract: An oximeter has a housing configured to have a cavity defining portion that is adapted to be fitted with covers of various dimensions to effect receptacles of different dimensions for accommodating differently sized sensor of sensor assemblies that are matable to the oximeter for sensing physical attributes of a patient. Each of the covers, once fully fitted to the housing, is fixedly latched thereto unless a force that overcomes the latching is applied to remove the cover. The effected receptacle is adapted to biasedly retain a corresponding sensor placed therein. The holstered sensor therefore would not accidentally fall out or be removed from the receptacle, until the user deliberately applies a force to remove the sensor from the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 6654621
Abstract: A finger oximeter has a fixed first finger grip member and a second finger grip member that is movable relative to the first fixed finger grip member. The finger grip members are mounted to a casing, with the first finger grip member being fixedly coupled to a top portion of the casing and the second finger grip member being movable vertically within the casing. A force is continuously applied against the movable finger grip member to bias it towards the fixed finger gripping member. This biasing force has sufficient yield so that when a finger is inserted between the two finger grip members, the movable finger grip member would yield to the incoming finger. At the same time the biasing force is of a sufficient magnitude to push the movable finger grip member towards the fixed finger grip member to effect a firm grip of the finger. The biasing force is evenly distributed to the movable finger grip portion to effect a floating finger grip suspension system for the finger oximeter.

  • Patent number: 5136244
Abstract: A whole volume shoulder coil for MRI includes two opposed coils one attached by a knuckle held captive in a sliding track to provide bounded translation rotation and angling of that coil with respect to the opposed coil. The coil position may be fixed by means of a single adjustment which clamps the knuckle against the track. The coils includes fusible links separated from the coil by a current divider which also serves to detune the coil when the fuse is opened. Varactor diodes are used to tune the coil. The DC control voltage for the diodes is combined with the signal from the coil and later separated by tuned filters to reduce cabling.
