Abstract: One preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a system for delivering audio content to a user, such as a young child. Briefly described, in architecture, one embodiment of the system, among others, can be implemented as follows. A messaging server stores audio content that has been designated for a particular personal messaging device. The personal messaging device polls the messaging server to determine if there is any audio content for the particular personal messaging device. If such audio content is present, the messaging server delivers the audio content to the personal messaging device over a telephone network. In a subsequent time thereafter, the personal messaging device polls the server again for audio content. Methods and other systems are also provided.
