  • Publication number: 20250119015
Abstract: An electrical machine includes a wound field rotor. The wound field rotor includes a shaft defining a longitudinal axis, a plurality of laminations mounted to an outer surface of the shaft and including rotor teeth defining an axial channel along the longitudinal axis, a plurality of field windings disposed in the axial channel, and a field separator disposed in the axial channel to secure the plurality of field windings in the axial channel. The field separator includes a post at an axial end of the field separator, the post having a passage therethrough to allow a fluid to flow out of the axial channel and into a side channel at an end of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 12088149
Abstract: A rotor for an electric machine including a shaft having a first end, a second end, an outer surface and an inner surface that defines a passage extending between the first end and the second end. A plurality of rotor laminations is mounted to the outer surface of the shaft. A plurality of windings extends about the plurality of rotor laminations. The plurality of windings includes a first end turn arranged proximate the first end and a second end turn arranged proximate the second end turn. An end turn support is arranged at one of the first and second end turns. The end turn support includes a cooling circuit fluidically connected to the passage. The cooling circuit includes an outlet that directs coolant onto the one of the first and second end turns.

  • Publication number: 20240275319
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide a control circuit operable to control voltage delivery to a multi-component load. The control circuit is electronically coupled to a first component of the multi-component load. The control circuit is further electronically coupled to a second component of the multi-component load. The control circuit is operable to, responsive to an output voltage of a source, generate a second component voltage and provide the second component voltage to the second component of the multi-component load. A peak value of the second component voltage is less than the output voltage.

  • Publication number: 20240055914
Abstract: A stator assembly has a substantially cylindrical core that defines a plurality of winding slots and a plurality of wedge-shaped insert slots, with the winding slots and insert slots alternating around the perimeter face of the core. Each insert slot is wedge-shaped to receive a wedge-shaped insert. The insert includes a cap at one end that is configured to be positioned at the insert slot opening when the insert is disposed within the corresponding insert slot. The cap includes a pair of wings extending therefrom that are sized and configured to overlap a portion of a winding slot on either side of the insert slot when the insert is disposed in said insert slot. The insert slots and inserts include a feature for locking engagement of the inserts in the slots.

  • Publication number: 20150280526
Abstract: An electric machine includes a core defining a first axial end, a second axial end opposite the first axial end, and a plurality of slots extending between the first axial end and the second axial end. Windings are wound on the core. The windings include in-slot portions positioned in the plurality of slots and end turn portions positioned on the first axial end and the second axial end. A cooling tube is coupled to the end turn portions of the windings. A heat transfer member extends between the cooling tube and the windings and is in contact with the cooling tube and the windings.
