    Abstract: An adapter bracket, which screws onto an existing neutral bar in a load center, having legs inserted through the holes in the neutral bar or screwed into the top of the neutral bar. The adapter bracket is configured to accept downward-facing or sideways-facing plug-on neutral mounting clips of a plug-on neutral circuit breaker. The bracket has a support portion extending along a Z-axis perpendicular to a rear wall of the load center. The downward-facing clips can be plugged onto the support portion. Sideways-facing clips are received onto tabs that are bent away from the support portion of the bracket and feature chamfered ends and a relatively small aspect ratio relative to the length of the mounting clip. The other holes in the existing neutral bar remain unobstructed so that a conventional neutral conductor can be inserted through the free holes while the adapter bracket accommodates plug-on neutral mounting clips.

    Abstract: A blumlein assembly incorporating a solid-state switch is presented. In the exemplary embodiment, a semiconductor switch is placed between first and second conducting strips, with dielectric material filling in the space between the strips on either side of the switch. A third conductive strip, parallel to the other two strips, is separated from the middle one of the strips by another dielectric layer. Rather than having the switch attach directly to the dielectric material on either side, a holder or carrier structure is used, which may be formed of several pieces or of a monolithic structure. The holder is formed of a material whose dielectric constant is closer to that of the switch than the dielectric material on either side, but whose boundary with the dielectric on either side has at least a portion that extends in a non-orthogonal direction with respect to the conducting strips. The arrangement allows the structure to withstand higher electric field levels without breakdown.

    Abstract: A load center system includes a primary bus bar with primary stabs for receiving a first type of circuit breaker, the primary stab extending from a primary base portion of the primary bus bar. A secondary bus bar with a secondary base portion and secondary stabs is coupled to the primary bus bar in a generally overlapping position, for receiving a second type of circuit breaker. Both the primary and secondary bus bars can be formed from stamping. By utilizing bus bars with base portions, the primary and secondary bus bars together provide for ease of assembly, and structural integrity, while allowing either of the first type of circuit breaker and the second type of circuit breaker to be coupled to the load center.

    Abstract: An anti-rotational fastening system consisting of a primary bolt or screw that is fabricated with an axial passage at the center of the drive head extending through the entire length. The threaded end has a tapered counterbore that is sectioned to provide radially expandable segments. The segments expand by means of an internally threaded conical shaped lock pin that is drawn into the tapered counterbore of the primary fastener by clockwise rotation of a secondary threaded device positioned in the axial passage. As these segments expand, clearance is reduced between the external threads of the primary member and the internal threads of the tapped hole or nut of the bolted connection. Frictional resistance to rotation is increased as the clearance between the threads decrease. The friction increases to a point where the fastening system is locked and resists all but deliberate loosening of the bolted connection.
