Publication number: 20230363790Abstract: A wound sealing sleeve for use with a goniotomy device has a hollow body with an open end by which the sleeve is attachable to a handle and an open tip through which a shaft is passed. One or more optional ports are formed in the sleeve to provide variable fluid paths. The port or ports may differ in size, shape and positioning on the sleeve. The wound sealing sleeve may be affixed to a handle by threads, a friction fit, glue, or mechanically fastened. The wound sealing sleeve is able to be deformed slightly in order to match the shape or contour of the eye incision to prevent leakage between the exterior surface of the wound sealing sleeve and the surgical incision.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2021Publication date: November 16, 2023Applicant: MICROSURGICAL TECHNOLOGY, INC.Inventors: Haley HUNT, Dave SCOTT, John GARLAND

Patent number: 11818510Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide various examples of monitoring adverse events in the background while displaying a higher-resolution surgical video on a lower-resolution display device. In one aspect, a process for detecting adverse events during a surgical procedure can begin by receiving a surgical video. The process then displays a first portion of the video images of the surgical video on a screen to assist a surgeon performing the surgical procedure. While displaying the first portion of the video images, the process uses a set of deep-learning models to monitor a second portion of the video images not being displayed on the screen, wherein each deep-learning model is constructed to detect a given adverse event among a set of adverse events. In response to detecting an adverse event in the second portion of the video images, the process notifies the surgeon of the detected adverse event to prompt an appropriate action.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2022Date of Patent: November 14, 2023Assignee: Verb Surgical Inc.Inventors: Jagadish Venkataraman, Dave Scott, Eric Johnson

Patent number: 11464490Abstract: A method for providing real-time feedback and semantic-rich guidance on ultrasound image quality is performed by a processor in an ultrasound system. The method includes receiving an ultrasound image and classifying the ultrasound image into one or more categories based on image features. The classifying creates a classified image. The method also includes determining whether the classified image provides an acceptable representation of a target organ. In response to determining that the classified image does not provide an acceptable representation of the target organ, the method includes selecting operator guidance corresponding to the one or more category; presenting via a display and/or audible sound, the selected operator guidance; and receiving additional ultrasound images. The method further includes calculating a result based on the classified image in response to determining that the classified image provides an acceptable representation of the target organ.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2018Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Assignee: Verathon Inc.Inventors: Si Luo, Dave Scott

Patent number: 11426056Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide various examples of displaying an endoscope video of an endoscope resolution on a display having a screen resolution lower than the endoscope resolution. In one aspect, a process of displaying the endoscope video on the display can begin by displaying a portion of the endoscope video having the same resolution as the screen resolution on the display. While displaying the portion of the endoscope video, the process detects a surgical tool present in an off-screen portion of the endoscope video not visible on the display, and therefore not visible to the user. The process further analyzes the off-screen portion of the endoscope video including the detected surgical tool. The process subsequently generates an alert when a risk of the detected surgical tool is identified.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2021Date of Patent: August 30, 2022Assignee: VERB SURGICAL INC.Inventors: Jagadish Venkataraman, Dave Scott, Eric Johnson

Patent number: 11363978Abstract: A bladder monitoring system includes a scanning system and a wearable bladder monitoring device (or patch). The scanning system obtains scan data that shows a bladder in a patient and identifies, based on the scan data, a placement location on the patient for the wearable bladder monitoring device. The scanning system indicates the placement location to a user; and identifies customization settings for one or more sensors of the wearable bladder monitoring device to enable the one or more sensors to detect extents of the bladder when the wearable bladder monitoring device is attached at the placement location.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2019Date of Patent: June 21, 2022Assignee: Verathon Inc.Inventors: Fuxing Yang, Joon Hwan Choi, Si Luo, Dave Scott, Kendall R. Publication number: 20220132510Abstract: An apparatus, method, and computer-readable recording medium perform client access delegation for a network device in a wireless network. A network controller of a gateway device receives a super-user client device authorization from the network admin client device, connects the super-user client device to the gateway device, receives a second-party client device access authorization from the super-user client device, and connects the second-party client device to the gateway device. The network controller of the gateway device also allocates a portion of available network bandwidth to a second group of client devices, monitors bandwidth consumption by the second group of users, and limits the bandwidth consumption of the second group of users to the allocated portion of the available bandwidth.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2021Publication date: April 28, 2022Inventors: Michael KAHN, John D. OGDEN, Linh NGUYEN, Dave Scott SWINGLE, Alpha KAMARA, Michael AGNEW, Ramesh Manikandan KUMARASAMY

Publication number: 20210385721Abstract: A mobile device for enhanced mobile device wireless network connectivity is provided that includes a user interface, a hardware processor, and a non-transitory memory configured to store one or more programs. The hardware processor executes the one or more programs to store a map of wireless networks, calculate a route of travel for the mobile device, and determine a list of wireless networks connectable to the mobile device. A schedule is created for connecting the mobile device to the wireless networks on the list and connecting the mobile device to a first one of the wireless networks on the schedule along the route. The mobile device switches sequentially from the first one of the wireless networks to a next one of the wireless networks in the schedule so the mobile device is connected to at least one of the wireless networks on the schedule while moving along the route.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2021Publication date: December 9, 2021Inventors: Michael R. Patent number: 11026561Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide various examples of displaying video images of a surgical video captured at a first resolution on a screen of a surgical system having a second resolution lower than the first resolution. In one aspect, a process begins by receiving the surgical video and selecting a first portion of the video images having the same or substantially the same resolution as the second resolution. The process subsequently displays the first portion of the video images on the screen. While displaying the first portion of the video images, the process monitors a second portion of the video images not being displayed on the screen for a set of predetermined events, wherein the second portion is not visible to the user. When a predetermined event in the set of predetermined events is detected in the second portion, the process generates an alert to notify the user.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2019Date of Patent: June 8, 2021Assignee: VERB SURGICAL INC.Inventors: Jagadish Venkataraman, Dave Scott, Eric Johnson
