  • Patent number: 10866139
Abstract: Certain aspects, configurations, embodiments, and examples of a spectrometer with a compact design are described. In some implementations, the spectrometers according to the present disclosure may be used for optical emission spectroscopy (OES). The spectrometer architecture and imager described herein allows a single detector, compact, and high-throughput spectrometer. One or more aspects include an Echelle grating in a spectrometer that reuses optical surfaces to separate wavelengths of light. For example, in one or more aspects, a reflective triplet telescope acts as both a collimator and imager. By reusing optical components, the relative size of the spectrometer may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 10088820
Abstract: To control lighting and other utilities in buildings based upon occupancy, mountable sensors are used to detect low energy radio frequencies emitted from devices, or tags, worn or carried by occupants. In a demand control system, identification (ID) codes embedded in tags worn by occupants are detected in each room by a tag sensor and may wirelessly communicate to a zonal compiler that determines zonal occupancy. The zonal occupancy count is transmitted to an interface relay that immediately adjusts the intensity and rate of the specific utility. HVAC systems may also be tied into the system to have adjustments made to the intensity and rate of ventilation as done with the lighting in this system. This system has many advantages over current systems such as not being dependent upon movement of an occupant or following the heat signature of an occupant that both may lead to false readings and delay in adjusting the specific building utility to save energy and costs.

  • Patent number: 9581491
Abstract: A flow cell for a fluorescence spectrometer includes a flow channel to receive a flow of a liquid sample, an excitation light entrance window to receive excitation light from a light source, and an emission light exit window to transmit fluorescent emission light from the liquid sample in the flow channel from the flow cell. The excitation light entrance window and/or emission light exit window includes a waveguide including: a waveguide core formed of a core material; and a cladding medium surrounding a portion of the waveguide core, wherein the cladding medium has a refractive index less than the refractive index of the core material. The waveguide defines a portion of the flow channel.

  • Patent number: 9528715
Abstract: In a demand control ventilation (DCV) system, ID codes of tags worn by occupants are detected in each room by a tag detector and wirelessly communicated to a zonal occupancy compiler. The zonal occupancy count arrived at by the compiler is transmitted to a DCV microprocessor, which interfaces with the ventilation controller of the building's HVAC system and sets the zonal ventilation rate based on the occupancy count and applicable ASHRAE standards.

  • Patent number: 7562226
Abstract: A mechanism for rapidly authenticating an interactive user in an operating system logon session based on a shared account by using a credential delivery application to enable permission-based access to a user's remote session from the shared account is disclosed. The present invention provides the ability to switch local interactive users, authenticate the new interactive user, and switch the remote session without requiring the client to first establish a new logon session tied to the new local interactive user. The present invention also alters the normal locking mechanism found in operating system logon sessions so as to restrict access to an interactive local user's applications (both local and remote) while still allowing the rapid switching of interactive users at the client device.

  • Patent number: 7531074
Abstract: A process for forming a multilayer composite coating on a substrate is provided. The process includes forming an electrodeposition coating layer on the substrate by electrodeposition of a curable electrodepositable coating composition over at least a portion of the substrate. Optionally, the coated substrate is heated to a temperature and for a time sufficient to cure the electrodeposition coating layer. A basecoating layer is formed on the electrodeposition coating layer by depositing an aqueous curable basecoating composition directly onto at least a portion of the electrodeposition coating layer. Optionally, the basecoating layer is dehydrated. A top coating layer is formed on the basecoating layer by depositing a curable top coating composition which is substantially pigment-free directly onto at least a portion of the basecoating layer. The top coating layer, the basecoating layer, and, optionally, the electrodeposition coating layer are cured simultaneously.
