  • Publication number: 20080068798
Abstract: An outdoor equipment cabinet includes a housing with a first door for accessing an equipment compartment within the housing. A battery compartment is located proximate a bottom of the housing. First and second air vents are located in an upper half of the cabinet. At least one fan moves air from the first vent, down to the battery compartment and then up and out of the second vent. In some embodiments, the first door includes the second vent, and a dual wall construction leading to a heat exchanger mounted to the first door. Air passes through the dual wall construction of the first door and through the heat exchanger to regulate an air temperature within the equipment compartment, and then passes out the second vent. The first vent may be provided in a second door which also includes a dual wall construction to guide incoming air to the battery compartment.

  • Publication number: 20050027910
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for providing both wireline and wireless connections to a wireline interface includes a first wireline interface, a second wireline interface, a wireless interface, and a switch coupled to the first wireline interface, the second wireline interface, and the wireless interface. The switch can selectively couple the first wireline interface to the second wireline interface to allow communication between the first and second wireline interfaces. The switch can further selectively couple the first wireline interface to the wireless interface to allow communication between the first wireline interface and the wireless interface.

  • Patent number: 6444931
Abstract: A customizable, modular circuit breaker housing assembly having an optimized compact form factor for use with electrical and telecommunications equipment. The housing assembly is comprised of an interlocked arrangement of individual housing portions coupled at one end to an end housing portion, and to an end panel portion at an opposite end. The end housing portion and individual housing portions include a load bus chamber and a line bus chamber for receiving load and line bus members, and one or more alarm contact member receptacles for receiving at least one alarm contact member. The line bus member and the alarm contact members may be provided as individually segmented members. In other embodiments, the individual housing portions may include pass-through slots for inserting a common line bus bar, pass-through apertures for common contact members, or both. The line and load bus members are formed of extruded metallic members having substantially the same cross-sectional surface.

  • Patent number: 6407533
Abstract: A system and method for the stabilization of battery temperature by alternating airflow through an internal ductwork of a cabinet housing electronic equipment and circuitry. Ambient air is drawn through one or more intake vents or louvers provided with the cabinet housing. Regulated airflow through the ductwork allows the cabinet housing's thermal management system to direct either cooler ambient air during warm periods or heated air during colder periods through the cabinet to stabilize the battery temperature as well electronics equipment and circuitry housed in the cabinet. At least a portion of the heated air is expelled through one or more exhaust vents. Because no active components are used for stabilizing battery temperature, thermal regulation is achieved even during utility power outages. Further, thermal energy is provided without the possibility of igniting hydrogen gas products generated by the battery units present in the cabinet.

  • Patent number: 6024165
Abstract: A thermal management device for an enclosure, the enclosure disposed in an environment exposed to ambient air and having an interior area for housing heat generating electronic components includes a heat exchanger having an evaporator portion and a condenser portion, the evaporator portion is adapted for mounting within the enclosure interior area adjacent to the heat generating electronic components. The condenser portion is exposed to the ambient air for removal of heat from the enclosure interior area generated by the electronic components adjacent to the heat exchanger evaporator portion. The device is incorporated in a system which includes an air duct disposed within the enclosure interior area. The duct includes an air inlet port and air outlet port. The ports communicate with the ambient air to thereby create an airflow path through the air duct from the inlet port to the outlet port.
