  • Publication number: 20220254454
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for estimating properties of a mixture of two or more surfactant species are provided. Multiple molecular dynamics simulations of the mixture are performed, each simulation using a particular total concentration of the surfactant species and a particular ratio of the surfactant species, such that the multiple simulations cover a plurality of such total concentrations and a plurality of such ratios, each simulation being carried out above the critical micelle concentration of the simulated mixture. For each simulation, and from the results of each simulation, a distribution of each surfactant species between at least a micellar pseudo-phase and a non-micellar pseudo-phase of the mixture at the particular total concentration and particular ratio for that simulation is determined.

  • Patent number: 9898780
Abstract: A method and system for the issuance of Instant Credit has an Instant Credit engine that performs instantaneous analyses. The method and system can operate along side existing “batch” processes. In addition, the method and system offer various channels of distribution for the Instant Credit products. With the present invention, Instant Credit and other Instant services (e.g., instant account balance transfers, etc.) can be obtained via, Internet, point-of-sale and other distribution channels. The present system also enables highly dynamic product offerings, which can be generated “instantaneously” based on a variety of factors, such as, for example, the channels of distribution (e.g., telephone or Internet), the product sought and/or even the particular individual and/or entity that is applying for a line of credit.

  • Patent number: 9334686
Abstract: Described here is an integrated control system for crash-rated barriers and bollards, barrier products and software which will improve the operational safety characteristics of the barriers and ancillary equipment; identify potential security breaches of the barrier operating system, and predict potential failures in the system. Crash rated barriers and bollards are used to prevent a vehicle attempting to penetrate the secure perimeter of a facility with malicious intent. Installation and operation of crash rated barriers is utilized to protect both government, commercial and private facilities against such threats. Simultaneously it allows ingress and egress to the facility resulting in the end user having to determine tradeoffs for security versus safety. The barriers described here are designed and certified to withstand attacks from heavy vehicles traveling at high rates of speed.

  • Publication number: 20160046429
Abstract: Multi-compartment insulated container systems and methods of using the same are described. In one embodiment, a container system includes a frame. The frame may include perimeter walls and interior walls interconnecting the perimeter walls, thereby forming a plurality of container sections having openings. At least one interior wall may be configured to facilitate heat transfer between neighboring container sections via heat conducting material. The system may include a plurality of access hatches covering at least some of the openings. The plurality of access hatches may be configured to retard heat transfer between the exterior of the frame and the interior via heat insulating material. In some embodiments, the frame may be configured to be housed within an exterior container. The exterior container may be thermally insulated.

  • Publication number: 20050280405
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing improved electromagnetic compatibility between a power source (20) and a switching element (22) in a switched mode power supply includes a device (24) for measuring an electrical variable, for example current, that fluctuates as the switching element (22) switches power received from the power source (20). A signal injector (28) is arranged to generate an electrical signal, for example current, of substantially the same amplitude, but opposite polarity, as the measured current, and to inject it between the power source (20) and the switching element (22) so as to tend to minimize fluctuations in the electrical variable.

  • Patent number: 6638337
Abstract: The additives, in particulate solid form, are conveyed pneumatically in a divergent stream from a pneumatic gun to impinge upon the molten iron and mix therewith. The gun is spaced above a surface of molten iron such that the pneumatically conveyed stream including the additive has a central axis which is either horizontal (or at an acute angle to the horizontal). The gun is prefereably adjustable for adjustment of the stream angle, and the stream may be either added to pouring metal or to cover a surface of the molten iron.
