Publication number: 20220053433Abstract: Aspects relate to exchanging beam-related information for a repeater device. A network access node may configure a repeater device to transmit multiple synchronization signal blocks using different beams. The network access node may determine the number of beams that the repeater device can use for its operations. A repeater device may indicate how many beams the repeater device supports, how many antenna arrays it has, and a mapping of beam indices to antenna array indices. A repeater device may indicate which beam pairs cannot be used for simultaneous transmission and/or reception and/or which beam groups can be used for simultaneous transmission and/or reception. A network access node may determine which beam pairs the repeater device cannot use for simultaneous transmission and/or reception and/or which beam groups the repeater device can use for simultaneous transmission and/or reception based on signal measurements and/or beam configuration feedback from the repeater device.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 13, 2021Publication date: February 17, 2022Inventors: Navid ABEDINI, Jianghong LUO, Tao LUO, Ashwin SAMPATH, Junyi LI, Valentin Alexandru GHEORGHIU, Philip David COAN, Ozcan OZTURK, Naeem AKL, Juan MONTOJO

Patent number: 8483631Abstract: A method of predistorting a waveform for input to an amplifier includes receiving information associated with the waveform, the information comprising a modulation configuration of the waveform. The method further includes predicting a chain model for the waveform based on the modulation configuration. In addition, the method includes predistorting the waveform for input to the amplifier, based on the chain model, an ideal waveform, and target output power. An apparatus is also provided for predistorting a waveform for input to an amplifier.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2008Date of Patent: July 9, 2013Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Philip David Coan, Paul Joseph Draxler

Publication number: 20110069749Abstract: Techniques for correcting for memory effects of a transmitter are described. In an exemplary design, a receiver obtains input samples including a desired signal transmitted by a transmitter having memory effects. The receiver performs nonlinear equalization on the input samples to obtain first equalized samples, performs linear equalization on the input samples to obtain second equalized samples, and determines output samples based on the first and second equalized samples. The nonlinear equalization corrects for the memory effects and nonlinearities of the transmitter and possibly nonlinearities and memory effects of the receiver. The receiver may jointly determine coefficients for both linear and nonlinear equalization based on an adaptive algorithm. The receiver processes (e.g., demodulates and decodes) the output samples to recover data sent in the desired signal by the transmitter.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2009Publication date: March 24, 2011Applicant: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Aracely Forrester, Philip David Coan, Paul Draxler, Roberto Rimini, Bruce Judson, Joseph Patrick Burke

Publication number: 20040198421Abstract: Terminals with multiple radio units employing different IF frequencies for RF to IF frequency downconversion are provided. Each radio unit is operative to process a respective input signal with a respective LO signal to provide a respective IF signal having a desired IF component at an IF frequency selected for that radio unit. The input signal for each radio unit includes RF components at different RF frequencies. The desired IF component for each radio unit corresponds to a downconverted version of one of the RF components in the input signal. The IF frequencies for the radio units are selected such that the desired IF components for these radio unit do not overlap one another in frequency. The IF frequencies may be selected such that, for each radio unit, the undesired IF components fall outside of the IF passband selected for that radio unit and may thus be filtered out.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2003Publication date: October 7, 2004Inventor: Philip David Coan

Patent number: 4829642Abstract: A method of making a crankshaft involves positioning a serpentine-shaped tube in a casting mold with a plurality of removable (breakaway) portions of the tube spaced apart along the length thereof supported in the mold body and a plurality of oil line-forming portions of the tube between the removable portions bridging across a crankshaft-shaped mold cavity formed in the mold. Molten metal is cast into the mold cavity about the oil line-forming portions of the tube to form a cast crankshaft with the oil line-forming portions of the tube cast in-situ therein and the removable portions of the tube disposed externally of the cast crankshaft. After separating the cast crankshaft and the mold, the removable portions of the tube are severed from the cast crankshaft, preferably broken off from the cast crankshaft at scored locations on the serpentine-shaped tube, to leave a plurality of open-ended, tubular oil lines cast in-situ in the crankshaft.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1988Date of Patent: May 16, 1989Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: James A.
