  • Publication number: 20180210042
Abstract: In some aspects, a resonator device includes a dielectric substrate, a ground plane on a first side of the substrate, and conductors on a second, opposite side of the substrate. The conductors include first and second resonators and two baluns. Each balun includes a feed, a first branch and a second branch. The feed is connected to the first and second branches, and the first and second branches are capacitively coupled to the respective first and second resonators. The first branch includes a delay line configured to produce a phase shift relative to the second branch. The resonator device includes a sample region configured to support a magnetic resonance sample between the first and second resonators.

  • Publication number: 20170343283
Abstract: A vortex dryer for fibrous material utilizes a helical inlet to the base of a central vortex tube to separate fiber from debris by abruptly changing direction of the conveying air flow. The dryer combines the helical input with helical shaping of the air flow through the central vortex tube to induce greater drying for the fiber which is continued at the top of the vortex tube through a separate drying chamber.

  • Patent number: 9297154
Abstract: An adaptable toilet plumbing riser shroud provides for fast and simple field installation of toilet plumbing riser shrouds without requiring custom prefabrication of shrouds or constraining the plumbing design to a predetermined shape. Two cover portions, one of which is slidably inserted inside the other are secured together. The cover portions are also secured to a wall behind a toilet plumbing riser using brackets. A bottom cover may be provided and cut to permit the riser to pass therethrough. The bottom cover may also be formed from two portions one slidably inserted in the other and then glued together after cutting with plastic cement. The bottom is then attached to the bottom of the shroud using screws. The cover portions may be molded as a single piece and then singulated, and the bottom cover portions may also be formed as a single piece prior to singulation, as well.

  • Patent number: 9222998
Abstract: A magnet assembly primarily for use in MRI applications is disclosed. The magnet assembly is composed of a single disk and ring permanent magnet set connected to a C-type magnet yoke and return fixture with asymmetrically arranged poles. Together, the permanent magnets create a strong magnetic field that has a large static gradient in the central enclosure. The magnet assembly is primarily designed for diffusion based MRI scanning but can perform routine MRI scanning as well.

  • Patent number: 8388308
Abstract: A system for asymmetric flow extraction is described and claimed, the system comprising a flow path, a bleed slot in the flow path, a bleed cavity for receiving at least a portion of the fluid extracted from the flow path and a bleed passage in flow communication with the bleed slot and the bleed cavity wherein the bleed passage has at least one deflector having a shape such that the width of the bleed passage cross section varies in a direction normal to the direction of fluid flow in the bleed passage. In another embodiment, the deflector has an aerodynamic surface having a shape such that the flow passage between the aerodynamic surface and a surface located away from it has a cross sectional shape that is non-axisymmetric. In another embodiment, the bleed passage comprises an assembly of a plurality deflectors, arranged circumferentially.

  • Patent number: 7353647
Abstract: A method facilitates assembling a gas turbine engine including a compressor and a rotor assembly coupled in axial flow communication downstream from the compressor. The method comprises coupling a bypass system in flow communication with the compressor to channel a portion of flow discharged from the compressor towards the rotor assembly is channeled through the bypass system, and coupling a downstream end of the bypass system within the gas turbine engine such that the flow entering the bypass system flows past the rotor assembly and is discharged downstream from the rotor assembly.
