  • Patent number: 8253755
Abstract: System and method for image-based color sequence reallocation in sequential color display systems. A method comprises generating a color signal from an image to be displayed, wherein the color signal contains light intensity information, computing percentages of the color sequence to be allocated to each color in a set of colors in a sequential color display system, wherein the computing is based on the light intensity information, allocating the color sequence based on the computed percentages, and displaying the image using the color sequence. The allocation of the color sequence based on the image allows for the elimination of color intensities that are greater than needed in displaying the image. Portions of the color sequence formerly used to display the eliminated color intensities may be used to display colors with usable intensities, thereby increasing the brightness of images.

  • Patent number: 8244666
Abstract: There are provided methods and systems to identify an item based on data inferred from information about the item. Information is received that is descriptive of an item capable of being listed on an information storage and retrieval platform. The information is associated with an aspect-value pair, which is an aspect of the item and a value of the aspect and is inferred from the information. An expression of an interest of a user in an additional item is received. The expression is associated with the aspect-value pair. In response to the associating of the expression with the aspect-value pair, the item is identified as the additional item.

  • Patent number: 8205187
Abstract: An executable circuit design is used to generate waveforms, from which behaviors of the circuit are captured. The behaviors and various combinations thereof can then be saved in a database, along with descriptions and other metadata about them, thereby generating a behavioral index of the circuit design code. Behavioral indexing of circuit designs allows a user to maintain an indexed behavior database, track changes in behaviors as the circuit design's executable description evolves, and figure out how the executable description can be reused in different projects. When applied to digital design development, it facilities the current design and verification effort, as well as design reuse down the line.

  • Publication number: 20120135388
Abstract: A system for secure, web-based, proctored examinations is provided. A web-based platform allows for test delivery beyond a local testing center with the test delivered directly to the test-taker. Computing devices that have been secured for the taking of an examination allow a student or prospective professional to access an examination wherever there is an Internet connection. As a result, students and professionals can take examinations where they live, learn, and work thereby reducing the costs associated with travelling to testing centers and minimizing time away from work. Test-takers, proctors, instructors, administrators, authors, and test developers can all access data and test information anytime and anywhere. Secure examinations can be taken under the purview of a proctor either in person or via the Internet and utilizing any number of testing environment capture devices in conjunction with data forensic technologies.

  • Publication number: 20120077176
Abstract: The presently disclosed invention provides for the security of a computing device in the context of a test taking environment. By securing a computing device, an individual (or group of individuals) may more effectively proctor a large examination without worrying about a test taker illicitly accessing information on their computer or via a remote source of data. Securing a computing device includes locking out or preventing access to any application not deemed necessary or appropriate by the test administrator.

  • Patent number: 8046321
Abstract: A method and system to analyze rules is described. The system receives a query and applies a first plurality of rules to the query to identify a second plurality of rules that respectively identify at least one matching keyword in the query. Next, the system counts the first plurality of rules to identify a total quantity of rules applied to the query and further counts the second plurality of rules to identify a second quantity of rules that respectively identify at least one matching keyword in the query. Finally, the system determines a percentage of coverage for the query based on the total quantity of rules and the second quantity of rules.
