  • Patent number: 7610299
Abstract: Data is extracted from multiple diverse sources and copied into an initial staging area in order to be processed. A copy of the data is persisted in non-volatile storage. Quality functions perform checking on the copy and store a checked copy into a clean staging area. New data elements are created by enriching the checked copy. Joins, lookups, aggregations, and delta processing are used to process the data which is then formatted and filtered into a target filtering area making the data load-ready for target applications.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 30, 2006
Date of Patent: October 27, 2009
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation

  • Patent number: 7072559
Abstract: A multiple hinged tray cable connecting joint includes a plurality of fiber trays pivotably coupled between sockets connected to fiber optic cables. The fiber trays can be positioned in a fiber loading position in which the fiber is spliced and coiled into the tray. The fiber trays can then be pivoted to a fiber storage position.

  • Patent number: 6778743
Abstract: A cable termination arrangement is used to terminate cables, such as armored fiber optic cables, to a connecting structure, such as a cable joint or coupling. Strength members, such as aramid rods, extending along the cable are terminated with radial termination members, such as crimping ferrules. The radial termination members extend into a termination cavity within the connecting structure and are spaced substantially equally, for example, using separators. An epoxy or other suitable retaining material encases the radial termination members, strength members, and separators.

  • Patent number: 6606876
Abstract: Sound attenuation apparatus for use in a bus in which an air conditioning unit that is mounted on the rear wall of the bus is arranged to exchange conditioned air for return air drawn from the buses passenger compartment through a central opening in the rear wall of the bus. A housing is mounted over the central opening inside the bus that has a front wall that extends to either side of the opening. Apertures are mounted in both the extended sections of the front wall that forces the return air passing through the housing to move over a tortuous path of travel thereby attenuating the sound in the air flow path. The interior surfaces of the housing are covered with an open cell foam material which further absorbs the sound in the air flow path.

  • Patent number: 6584253
Abstract: Sealed cable connections can be used to connect first and second cables to a sealed cable joint. The sealed cable connection at one end of the sealed cable joint includes a cable socket body positioned within an inner region of a housing. The cable socket body includes a passageway receiving one of the cables. A seal securing member is positioned within the inner region of the housing and secured into contact with the cable socket body. At least one seal, such as a resilient metal seal, is compressed between the cable socket body and the seal securing member to seal against the inner surface of the housing. The sealed cable connection can also include a cable seal positioned around the cable and within the passageway of the cable socket body.

  • Patent number: 6219438
Abstract: A system and method identify objects, such as fruits, vegetables, and images through the recognition of unique surface features represented by signals from a scanner that pass over the objects. The scanner signals are processed by applying a modified wavelet transform to them and comparing the results to previously stored data. The system uses an optical scanner, a processor that transforms the data acquired by the scanner to extract a translation invariant feature vector, and a comparator which compares the transformed signal to a predetermined set of vectors for a corresponding identification based upon the comparison set.

  • Patent number: 4877106
Abstract: A noise attenuating assembly for use in conjuction with an air conditioning unit having a sloped discharge opening is disclosed. The assembly includes a front wall and a pair of side walls forming a flow path for the conditioned air which is discharged to the space containing the unit. The assembly has a layer of sound attenuating material attached to the inside surface of the walls so that the assembly deflects and absorbs line-of-sight sound produced by the unit fan, thus reducing the noise level of the unit.
