Patent number: 7967170Abstract: An agitator motor assembly is removable from a front of an ice dispenser for servicing, thereby eliminating the need to gain entrance into a storage bin to uncouple the agitator motor assembly from an agitator bar assembly. The ice dispenser includes the storage bin having a port, the agitator bar assembly disposed within the storage bin, and the agitator motor assembly mounted to a front of an exterior portion of the bin. A shaft of the agitator motor assembly engages the agitator bar assembly through the port, such that the agitator motor assembly rotates the agitator bar assembly when powered. The agitator motor assembly further includes a fastening device that passes through a bore in the shaft and engages the agitator bar assembly, thereby coupling the agitator motor assembly to the agitator bar assembly. A method for removing the agitator motor assembly is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2010Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Lancer Partnership, Ltd.Inventors: David Goff, Adrian M. Patent number: 6902110Abstract: In general, the invention is directed to techniques for creating and controlling a magnetic field for use with electronic article surveillance (EAS) markers. In particular, the techniques make use of current switching devices to generate a signal having one or more current pulses for creating the magnetic field. An electronic article surveillance (EAS) system includes a coil to create a magnetic field for changing a status of an EAS marker and a drive unit to output a signal having one or more current pulses for energizing the coil. A programmable processor within the EAS system controls the drive unit to generate the output signal according to a desired profile. By selectively activating and deactivating current switching devices within the drive unit, the processor can direct the drive unit to generate the output signal according to a desired profile having a number of current pulses of different amplitudes and direction.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2004Date of Patent: June 7, 2005Assignee: 3M Innovative Properties CompanyInventors: Anthony Michael Belka, Peter John Zarembo, Edward David Goff

Patent number: 5199534Abstract: An improved shopping cart brake for attachment to the rear leg of a shopping cart is disclosed, the brake for preventing the rotation of a non-inflatable tire on the rear leg of the shopping cart. The shopping cart brake includes a connecting arm, which is removably and adjustably attached to the rear leg of the shopping cart. The brake also includes a split yoke, which is pivotally connected to the connecting arm. The split yoke has two braking flanges which engage and apply frictional force to the sides of the non-inflatable tire to prevent the tire from rotating. An actuator is also included, the actuator being integral with the split yoke and for applying force to the split yoke to engage the braking flanges with the sides of the non-inflatable tire. The shopping cart brake also includes an adjustable tension bar between the braking flanges which may be used to increase or decrease the frictional force the braking flanges apply to the non-inflatable tire.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1991Date of Patent: April 6, 1993Inventor: David Goff

Patent number: 4146291Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting sensitive electronic components housed within a portable electronic component against damage due to the discharge of accumulated static charges. The electrical connector components are electrically isolated and housed within an insulative receptacle having very low conducting properties within the portable electronic component. The coacting electrical connector components are housed in a similar insulative conductive housing. The insulative housings are dimensioned to require physical contact between the two for a preselected time interval effective to discharge any static charge.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1977Date of Patent: March 27, 1979Assignee: MSI Data CorporationInventors: David A.
