  • Publication number: 20180219581
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving data from an external network device positioned outside of a neighborhood network, wherein the first waveguide system is a first network node of the neighborhood network. Electromagnetic waves are sent to a second waveguide system via a transmission medium, wherein the electromagnetic waves are guided by the transmission medium without utilizing an electrical return path, wherein the electromagnetic waves convey the data. The second waveguide system is determined according to a neighborhood routing scheme that limits delivery of the data to a group of recipient devices within a service area of the neighborhood network and the second waveguide system is a second network node of the neighborhood network. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10025840
Abstract: A system for making data source anonymous including a plurality of data sources, each data source including a data creation engine which creates normalized data in accordance with a common schema and a transformation engine which de-normalizes the normalized data such that the data source cannot be inferred by other data sources and transmits the de-normalized data to a remote computing resource. A remote computing resource receives and stores the de-normalized data from the plurality of data sources.

  • Patent number: 10020845
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, generating first traffic for transmitting along a network path toward a recipient device, determining a schedule for transmitting the first traffic, and facilitating transmission of the first traffic along the network path using a first waveguide system. The first waveguide system has a dielectric coupler, and operates by communicating electromagnetic waves via the dielectric coupler at a physical interface of a transmission medium that propagate without utilizing an electrical return path. The electromagnetic waves are guided by the transmission medium, wherein the electromagnetic waves at least partially surround an outer surface of the transmission medium, and wherein the electromagnetic waves have a non-optical frequency range. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10013706
Abstract: An online system allows creators and owners of content items presented within the system to view real-time metrics related to the content items. The online system stores data describing user interactions with content items in one or more activity logs and processes the activity logs in a distributed manner activity to identify user interactions with content items. For example, activity logs are divided into several portions that are processed in parallel using aggregation operators to generate user interaction aggregations. An aggregation includes one or more user interactions associated with the same content item and sharing certain criteria. From the user interaction aggregations, the online system determines one or more requested metrics, and may combine user interaction aggregations related to different content items when computing metrics.

  • Publication number: 20180139610
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving electromagnetic waves at a physical interface of a transmission medium that propagate along the transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path, wherein the electromagnetic waves are guided by the transmission medium, and wherein the electromagnetic waves have a non-optical frequency range. A determination is made as to whether the electromagnetic waves are being received from a second network device according to a comparison of a fingerprint of the electromagnetic waves and an expected fingerprint of expected parameters for the electromagnetic waves transmitted by the second network device. • Patent number: 9824407
Abstract: A social networking system generates one or more metrics describing user interactions with objects to describe the popularity of the objects among users. Data describing actions performed by social networking system users on objects stored by the social networking system to identify an action, the user performing the action and the object on which the action was performed. Stored actions performed on a selected object are retrieved and a subset of the actions is generated by sampling the stored actions at a sampling rate. A number of unique users included in the subset is determined and used along with the sampling rate to determine the number of unique users included in the retrieved actions, which is used to derive a metric describing user interaction with the selected object.
