Patent number: 6957738Abstract: The first aid kit of the present invention includes a case that includes means for providing quick access to the contents carried by the case. The case further provides, on the inside, a plurality of regions, defining compartments, arranged in an accordion style columnar array. Contained in the compartments are packs which are specifically designed with products appropriate for a particular first aid situation arranged according to a system of medical priorities following the principle of triage, from the most serious to the least serious first aid situation. The first aid kit further provides an guidebook that contains detailed instructions regarding the products contained in each pack as well as instructions on use of the products for different types of first aid situations. The first aid kit further includes an overview card that is an overview of the components of the first aid kit, identifying each of the packs for quick reference in a first aid situation.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2001Date of Patent: October 25, 2005Assignee: DLH, Inc.Inventor: David A. Publication number: 20030208357Abstract: An instructional card for a first aid kit that gives instructions for administering first aid by audio means, visual means, written means, graphical means or a combination of means thereof. The instructional card may be identified as corresponding to a pack of first aid supplies to be used to administer the first aid treatment as instructed by the instructional card. Alternatively, the instructional card may be included inside the pack of first aid supplies that are to be used to administer the first aid treatment described by the instructional card.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2002Publication date: November 6, 2003Applicant: DLH, Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 6460702Abstract: The first aid kit of the present invention includes a case (12), which includes a quick access to the contents carried by the case (12). The case (12) further provides, on the inside a plurality of compartments (37) arranged in sequence to obtain a card catalogue/file cabinet-like effect. Contained in the sequential compartments (37) are packs (40), which are specifically designed with products appropriate for a particular first aid situation. The first aid kit (10) further provides an instruction booklet (46) which contains detailed instructions regarding the products contained in each pack (40) as well as instructions on use of the products for different types of first aid situations. The first aid further includes an overview card (50) which is an overview of the components of the first aid kit (10), identifying each of the packs (40), for quick reference in a first aid situation.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2001Date of Patent: October 8, 2002Assignee: DLH, Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 6093245Abstract: Alkali halide crystal is grown from a melt in a novel graphite crucible which has a surface depth region of its inside surface impregnated with glassy carbon to eliminate porosity, so that the melt does not leak through or wet the carbon. Additionally, the graphite may be coated with glassy carbon to provide a smoother surface. Also disclosed is a porous graphite crucible lined with a layer of graphitic pyrolytic carbon to prevent wetting of the surface by the melt and to permit release of the cooled crystal without remelting.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1999Date of Patent: July 25, 2000Assignee: Saint-Gobain Industrial Ceramics, Inc.Inventors: David A. Hammond, Jan J. Buzniak, Kimberly A. Grencewicz, Milan R. Vukcevich

Patent number: 4030965Abstract: Inorganic macrocrystals are grown free of occluded gases in a quiescent melt in a Bridgmann, Stockbarger, or similar furnace by melting down the crystal feed stock under a reduced atmosphere composed primarily of a low molecular weight gas such as hydrogen, helium or neon having the ability to diffuse through the melt at a greater rate than that of nitrogen. The gas can also include a minor amount of one or more active scavenger gases. During crystal growth, the gas atmosphere over the melt is altered by replacing the low molecular weight gas with an inert gas having a lower solubility in the melt than that of the low molecular weight gas or by increasing the pressure of the low molecular weight gas at a specified point in the growth process to significantly increase the concentration needed to form bubbles in the melt and to retard evaporation of the melt.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1976Date of Patent: June 21, 1977Assignee: The Harshaw Chemical CompanyInventors: David A.
