  • Patent number: 10898450
Abstract: A transdermal dosing unit may include a first segment having a first pharmaceutical in a first reservoir, a first releasing compound, and a first adhesive component, a second segment removably connected to the first segment, the second segment having a second pharmaceutical in a second reservoir, a second releasing component, and a second adhesive component, and a backing component. The transdermal dosing unit may further include additional segments, and may include a perforated section between each segment. The first adhesive component may have a first adhesion strength, and the second adhesive component may have a second adhesion strength that is either different from or approximately equal to the first adhesion strength. A method of titrating a dose of such a transdermal dosing unit may include applying the transdermal dosing unit to a subject, and removing the first segment while leaving the second segment on the subject.

  • Publication number: 20210018919
Abstract: The technology relates to detecting and responding to processions. For instance, sensor data identifying two or more objects in an environment of a vehicle may be received. The two or more objects may be determined to be disobeying a predetermined rule in a same way. Based on the determination that the two or more objects are disobeying a predetermined rule, that the two or more objects are involved in a procession may be determined. The vehicle may then be controlled autonomously in order to respond to the procession based on the determination that the two or more objects are involved in a procession.

  • Publication number: 20210006870
Abstract: A method includes detecting an object embedded in a first media data, generating a descriptor of the detected object, and associating a second content identification data with a first content identification data and the descriptor of the embedded object. The first content identification data is generated from a first fingerprint data generated from a first media data including: video data and/or associated audio data, and the second content identification data is generated based on processing a second fingerprint data associated with a networked device generated from a second media data. The networked device is capable of being associated with a client device configured to: constrain an executable environment in a security sandbox, and execute a sandboxed application in the executable environment. The method also includes identifying content to be transmitted to the sandboxed application of the client device based on a relevancy factor including the descriptor of the detected object.

  • Patent number: 10852746
Abstract: The technology relates to determining general weather conditions affecting the roadway around a vehicle, and how such conditions may impact driving and route planning for the vehicle when operating in an autonomous mode. For instance, the on-board sensor system may detect whether the road is generally icy as opposed to a small ice patch on a specific portion of the road surface. The system may also evaluate specific driving actions taken by the vehicle and/or other nearby vehicles. Based on such information, the vehicle's control system is able to use the resultant information to select an appropriate braking level or braking strategy. As a result, the system can detect and respond to different levels of adverse weather conditions. The on-board computer system may share road condition information with nearby vehicles and with remote assistance, so that it may be employed with broader fleet planning operations.

  • Publication number: 20200364473
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide for a method for identifying speed limit signs and controlling an autonomous vehicle in response to detected speed limit signs. The autonomous vehicle's computing devices identifies a speed limit sign in a vehicle's environment and a location and orientation corresponding to the speed limit sign. Then, the and orientation location of the speed limit sign is determined to not correspond to a pre-stored location and a pre-stored orientation of a speed limit sign that is pre-stored in map information. An effect zone of the speed limit sign is determined based on the location and orientation of the speed limit sign and characteristics of surrounding areas or other detected object before or after the speed limit sign. The autonomous vehicle's computing devices determines a response of the vehicle based on the determined effect zone, and controls the autonomous vehicle based on the determined response.

  • Publication number: 20200365016
Abstract: The technology relates to controlling a vehicle in an autonomous driving mode, the method. For instance, a vehicle may be maneuvered in the autonomous driving mode using pre-stored map information identifying traffic flow directions. Data may be received from a perception system of the vehicle identifying objects in an external environment of the vehicle related to a traffic redirection not identified the map information. The received data may be used to identify one or more corridors of a traffic redirection. One of the one or more corridors may be selected based on a direction of traffic flow through the selected corridor. The vehicle may then be controlled in the autonomous driving mode to enter and follow the selected one of the one or more corridors based on the determined direction of flow of traffic through each of the one or more corridors.

  • Publication number: 20200356794
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to training and using a phrase recognition model to identify phrases in images. As an example, a selected phrase list may include a plurality of phrases is received. Each phrase of the plurality of phrases includes text. An initial plurality of images may be received. A training image set may be selected from the initial plurality of images by identifying the phrase-containing images that include one or more phrases from the selected phrase list. Each given phrase-containing image of the training image set may be labeled with information identifying the one or more phrases from the selected phrase list included in the given phrase-containing images. The model may be trained based on the training image set such that the model is configured to, in response to receiving an input image, output data indicating whether a phrase of the plurality of phrases is included in the input image.

  • Patent number: 10762360
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to detecting unmapped drivable road surfaces. In one instance, sensor data captured by a sensor of an autonomous vehicle may be projected onto a grid having a plurality of cells. The plurality of cells may be classified by generating a label for each of the plurality of cells. Each label may identifies whether or not a corresponding cell contains a drivable surface. Ones of the plurality of cells may be clustered based on the labels to form a cluster of cells. An area of the cluster of cells may be compared to a map. Whether the area of the cluster of cells is an unmapped drivable road surface may be determined based on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 10739780
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to an autonomous vehicle that may detected other nearby vehicles and identify them as parked or unparked. This identification may be based on visual indicia displayed by the detected vehicles as well as traffic control factors relating to the detected vehicles. Detected vehicles that are in a known parking spot may automatically be identified as parked. In addition, detected vehicles that satisfy conditions that are indications of being parked may also be identified as parked. The autonomous vehicle may then base its control strategy on whether or not a vehicle has been identified as parked or not.

  • Patent number: 10740630
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to classifying teh status of objects. For examples, one or more computing devices detect an object from an image of a vehicle's environment. The object is associated with a location. The one or more computing devices receive data corresponding to the surfaces of objects in the vehicle's environment and identifying data within a region around the location of the object. The one or more computing devices also determine whether the data within the region corresponds to a planar surface extending away from an edge of the object. Based on this determination, the one or more computing devices classify the status of the object.

  • Publication number: 20200234579
Abstract: The technology relates to detecting and responding to emergency vehicles. This may include using a plurality of microphones to detect a siren noise corresponding to an emergency vehicle and to estimate a bearing of the emergency vehicle. This estimated bearing is compared to map information to identify a portion of roadway on which the emergency vehicle is traveling. In addition, information identifying a set of objects in the vehicle's environment as well as characteristics of those objects is received from a perception system is used to determine whether one of the set of objects corresponds to the emergency vehicle. How to respond to the emergency vehicle is determined based on the estimated bearing and identified road segments and the determination of whether one of the set of objects corresponds to the emergency vehicle. This determined response is then used to control the vehicle in an autonomous driving mode.
