Abstract: A swing gate hold-back device for releasably retaining a gate frame having a horizontal rail in an open position relative to a fixed vertical gate post includes a main body member having a first elongated L-shaped arm, a second elongated L-shaped arm, and a strap mount plate member. Each of the first and second elongated arms are secured at their first ends to the strap mount plate member and are disposed in a spaced apart relationship to each other so as to form a channel therebetween. A V-shaped flapper is pivotally disposed in the channel between the first and second elongated L-shaped arms of the body member for rotating back and forth between a first position corresponding to where the gate frame is in a closed position and a second position corresponding to where the gate frame is in the open position. A U-bolt is used for tightly mounting to the strap mount plate member so as to retain the body member in a desired position on the gate post.
