  • Patent number: 9176902
Abstract: Described are techniques for migrating data. A source data storage system includes a source device and a target data storage system includes a target device. A passive path and an active path are provided for a host to access data of a logical device. The host recognizes the passive path and the active path as paths to the logical device. The passive path is between the host and the source data storage system. The active path is between the host and the target data storage system and used in connection with proxying requests directed to the logical device received from the host through the target data storage system while migrating data for the logical device from the source device to the target device. Migrating is controlled by a migration module executing on the target data storage system that copies data from the source device to the target device.

  • Publication number: 20150282673
Abstract: A blade driving assembly includes a blade-supporting shaft disposed to rotate parallel to, but laterally offset from, the axis of a food processor's drive outlet. A planetary drive system conveys rotational drive to the blade-supporting shaft, so that the blade-supporting shaft rotates around its own axis, thereby spinning the blade or blades, while at the same time the blade-supporting shaft rotates bodily around the drive-outlet axis, describing a locus, centred on the drive-outlet axis but separated therefrom by a radial distance (d) corresponding to the lateral offset.

  • Patent number: 9053027
Abstract: Described are techniques for performing caching. Write operations of a single transactions are received. Write data of the write operations is cached in one or more cache pages of a first cache of a first storage processor. State information is set for the one or more cache pages of the first cache from an invalid state to a prepared state. The write data of the write operations is also stored in a second cache of a second storage processor. A transaction commit state for the single transaction is set indicating that transaction commitment processing for the first cache has commenced and is pending. State information of the one or more cache pages of the first cache is set from the prepared state to a dirty state. The transaction commit state for the single transaction is updated to indicate that the transaction commitment processing for the first cache is completed.

  • Patent number: 8916192
Abstract: An apparatus for a continuous encapsulation process is provided. The apparatus is a vibrating tubing used alone, in series, or in combination with an encapsulation apparatus, which is used alone or in series. The vibrating tubing is a flat coil, a standing spiral, or a flume. The encapsulation apparatus includes a winding having coils disposed in an aqueous gelling solution. The winding is rotatable about its longitudinal center axis. The winding has adjacently spaced coils forming a plurality of chambers. Objects to be encapsulated are added to the apparatus such that when the winding is rotated, the chambers transport a volume of objects through the length winding in the aqueous gelling solution in a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 8826719
Abstract: A calibration artifact includes an elongated body made substantially entirely of ceramic material and having a direction of elongation. A plurality of measurement elements comprising the ceramic material are integrally formed with the elongated body, each measurement element comprising a first planar measurement surface facing in a first direction. The first planar measurement surface of each measurement element is parallel to the first planar measurement surface of each of the other measurement elements of the plurality of measurement elements. The calibration artifact may be a unitary step gauge formed with a single piece of ceramic material.

  • Publication number: 20140153902
Abstract: The system provides for the automatic editing of a video comprised of a plurality of content segments. When two or more content clips are available at a particular moment in time, the system will automatically choose at least a portion of one of the clips pursuant to preference metrics determined by a user. The system contemplates the ability of the user to define specific metrics to control the editing, including frequency of edits, content of content clip, level of activity, and the like. In another embodiment, the system has a plurality of pre-defined editing modes that define various metrics for use in the automatic editing system, including guaranteed participation, speaker-centric, quality of clip, and the like.

  • Publication number: 20140032747
Abstract: A sequence of data representing network behaviour is analysed using the technique of delay space embedding. This causes a sequence of tuples to be constructed from the data sequence. This sequence of tuples can then be represented in a multi-dimensional representation space, which allows detection of network behaviour divergent from a norm.

  • Patent number: 8429346
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for relocating data in a physical storage pool comprising a plurality of storage tiers having differing performance characteristics, the physical storage pool being mapped into one or more logical units, each logical unit comprising a plurality of logical slices of data storage. The methods and systems can involve receiving a relocation list, the relocation list including, for each of a plurality of logical slices, a slice identifier, a temperature value, and a current physical location, determining a destination tier for each logical slice on the relocation list, evaluating for each logical slice on the relocation list a performance gain expected to be achieved by moving the logical slice from its current physical location to a new location in the destination tier, and relocating data in a logical slice from its current physical location to the new location based on the evaluation.
