    Abstract: A method for processing daily consumption, demand and time of use meter reads for electric, gas, water and other metered entities. The meter reads are collected by any of the well known Automated Meter Reading (AMR) technologies and loaded into a meter data warehouse. At a minimum daily meter reading, reads that are tagged as Good, Stale, Partial, Incomplete and Missing are required for properly identifying usage patterns, applying rules for error patterns and estimating the reads which will provide quality meter reads to the utilities thereby identifying meter problems before they become billing problems. The overall process involves loading the daily meter reads into a database, comparing each meter read against its previous day's read and applying a set of rules that help in validating, editing and estimating (VEE) of this data. The VEE rules that are applied can be broadly classified into five (5) categories.

    Abstract: An elongated strap has a plurality of openings sized to hold plumbing pipes extending through the openings. The openings have a periphery that undulates so the periphery extends on opposing sides of the strap to increase the periphery in contact with the pipe along the longitudinal axis of the pipe. A fluid-tight pipe cover releasably connects to further openings in the strap. The pipe cover has a first, open end sized to fit over the pipe. The open end has projections cooperating with the further openings to releasably fasten the cover to the strap. The cover has a closed, distal end that extends beyond the distal end of the pipe during use of the device. A seal is interposed between the cover and the pipe during use of the device to prevent the passage of fluid from the pipe past the seal.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for recovering from a lost password are described. A password reset disk is created by generating a key pair consisting of a private key and a corresponding public key. The private key is stored on a removable computer-readable medium so that it can be removed and securely stored remote from the computer system on which it was created. The public key is stored on the computer system and used to maintain an up-to-date encrypted copy of the current password. This encrypted copy is stored on the computer system. If, at a later time, the user forgets a user password, the user may insert the password reset disk into the computer system. The private key is retrieved from the password reset disk and the encrypted password is decrypted using the private key. If the decryption is successful, the user is allowed to set a new password. The password reset disk is effective even if the user password has been changed since the creation of the password reset disk.

    Abstract: A friction engaging device, such as, for example a braking disc and a friction couple, brake disc/pad are disclosed. The friction engaging device is a carbon-ceramic composite comprising a carbon fibre network and a filler comprising silicon carbide. One device comprises, by weight, from 35-50% carbon fibre, 14-30% free carbon, 10-28% silicon carbide, 5-14% silicon and 5-14% silicon oxide. Also disclosed is a method of producing a friction engaging device in which a carbon-carbon composite comprising 10 to 60% by weight of a carbon fiber network and from 40 to 90% by weight free carbon is impregnated with silicon under conditions such that substantially all of the carbon fibre network remains as carbon fiber, and a proportion of the free carbon present in the volume is converted within the volume to silicon carbide by reaction with the silicon.

    Abstract: An interlock mechanism is provided for a document handler having a pair of drawers for storing documents to prevent the simultaneous extension of more than one of the drawers. The drawer interlock apparatus comprises a frame and a longitudinal rail mounted to a side wall of each drawer. Each rail has a pair of substantially L-shaped stops and a locating notch positioned between the stops. A locking mechanism is pivotally mounted to the frame. The locking mechanism is slideably engaged with the rail of each drawer for preventing the simultaneous extension of the multiple drawers. Each drawer also has link mechanisms for adjusting drawer alignment to meet document registration requirements.
