  • Patent number: 8991491
Abstract: The present invention relates to producing oil from an oil-bearing geological formation using a selection process. The process includes selecting a treatment option such as carbon dioxide flooding for enhancing oil recovery from a geological formation in a remote location. Various characteristic properties such as a physical or chemical property of the oil or rock may be used in the selection process and the carbon dioxide may be captured from a combustion process.

  • Patent number: 8172320
Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of impact absorption blocks and vehicle seatbacks and seats comprising impact absorption blocks. One embodiment of a vehicle seatback assembly comprises a seatback frame, a seat pad and an impact absorption block. The seatback frame comprises a first side member having an upper end and a lower end, a second side member spaced apart from and substantially parallel to the first side member and having an upper end and a lower end and a cross-member extending between the first and second side members. The seat pad overlies the seatback frame to define a forward surface. The impact absorption block is positioned between the seat pad and the cross member.

  • Patent number: 8099071
Abstract: A system for single path processing identical, substantially identical, close or interfering frequencies with a single analog-to-digital converter. The system receives a plurality of input signals at various frequencies and front end circuits filter out first and second frequencies. A mixer and a front end oscillator are in communication with one of the front end circuits for mixing a front end frequency with one of the first and second frequencies prior to the analog-to-digital converter. A summer combines the output of the mixer with the output of one of the front end circuits. An analog-to-digital converter is connected to the summer for converting the analog input signal to a digital output signal. The first and second frequencies may be separately processed after they have been combined, even if they were identical frequencies.

  • Patent number: 8000669
Abstract: A system for detecting and removing undesirable noise, such as beats and tones, from radio signals. The system includes a manual oscillator that is a manually tuned by a user to a selected manual frequency from one of a plurality of frequencies. An electronic oscillator is electronically tuned to a selected electronic frequency from one of the plurality of frequencies. A processor isolates and stores at least one interference frequency associated the selected electronic frequency and determines a correction signal to correct any interference frequencies within a particular selected electronic frequency. The selected manual frequency is corrected using the determined correction signal for the particular selected electronic frequency when the selected manual frequency is the same as the particular selected electronic frequency.

  • Publication number: 20050019102
Abstract: A deep water support platform, suitable for use as a hydrocarbon exploration or production facility in very deep waters of 10,000 ft or more is presented. The platform is attached to the floor of the ocean with a buoyant pile that includes buoyant members attached about the periphery of the pile. The buoyant pile and buoyant members include tubular members that can be filled with water, oil, air or other materials to produce a structure that has improved buoyancy and stability over prior platforms. Embodiments include configurations of buoyant members that have constant and equal diameter and spacing, and other configurations where the diameter and/or spacing of the buoyant members changes along the pile. In addition, the buoyant members are arranged about the pile to reduce vortex induced vibrations on the platform by interfering with current flow about the support structure.
