Patent number: 11163597Abstract: A computing fabric includes one or more host computing platforms and a plurality of partitions instantiated across the one or more host computing platforms, each of the plurality of partitions allocated computing resources of the one or more host computing platforms. The computing fabric further includes a hypervisor installed on the one or more host computing platforms and managing interactions among the plurality of partitions. The plurality of partitions includes a persistent partition to which one or more storage devices are allocated, the persistent partition executing software loaded from a trusted storage location and executing from a non-volatile memory.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2016Date of Patent: November 2, 2021Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: Robert J Sliwa, Bryan E Thompson, James R Hunter, John A Landis, David A Kershner

Patent number: 10592434Abstract: Methods and systems for securing memory within a computing fabric are disclosed. One method includes allocating memory of one or more host computing systems in the computing fabric to a partition, the partition included among a plurality of partitions, the computing fabric including a hypervisor installed on the one or more host computing platforms and managing interactions among the plurality of partitions. The method includes defining an address range associated with the memory allocated to the partition, receiving a memory operation including an address within the address range, and, based on the memory operation including an address within the address range, issuing, by the hypervisor, an indication that the memory operation is occurring at an encrypted memory location. The method also includes performing the memory operation, and performing an encryption operation on data associated with the memory operation.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2016Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: Robert J Sliwa, Bryan E Thompson, James R Hunter, John A Landis, David A Kershner

Patent number: 10296749Abstract: A SCD includes a processor configured to establish operating functions of the SCD. The SCD further includes a computer-readable medium including a setup volume and a storage volume. The setup volume is configured to store information that is decrypted. The storage volume is configured to store information that is encrypted. The setup volume includes instructions that establish at least one authentication process. The encrypted information stored in the storage volume is decrypted after completing the at least one authentication process. The SCD further includes a universal serial bus (USB) connector configured to transmit information stored in the computer-readable medium to a host or a user. The SCD further includes a battery that powers the SCD.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2015Date of Patent: May 21, 2019Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventors: David A Binder, David A Kershner

Publication number: 20120110297Abstract: A soft partitioning system for allowing multiple virtual system environments to execute on a single platform may include I/O service partitions (IOSPs). The IOSPs operating in a separate virtual memory space on the platform and service disk and network requests from multiple guests. The IOSPs provide translation from virtual addresses to physical addresses such that from the point of view of the guest the virtual addresses used by the guest appear to be physical addresses. The IOSP may be implemented in a Linux kernel. The address space of the IOSP may be extended to include DMA memory sections such that the Linux kernel does not include all of the guest's memory. The IOSP may operate on hardware that does or does not support virtualization technology for directed I/O.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2010Publication date: May 3, 2012Applicant: Unisys Corp.Inventor: David A. Kershner

Patent number: 6118911Abstract: A waveguide switch matrix is disclosed. The switch matrix includes a number of input waveguides that may be selectably connected to a number of output waveguides. A switch apparatus is provided at the intersection of each input waveguide and each output waveguide. The switch apparatus includes probes inserted into both the input waveguide and the output waveguide. The probes are connected through a switch arrangement. When a particular input waveguide is to be coupled to a particular output waveguide, the switch arrangement between the probes of the waveguides is closed to provide a signal path for the electromagnetic energy.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1998Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: Hughes Electronics CorporationInventors: Richard L.
