Patent number: 7625229Abstract: An electrical assembly is disclosed that provides evidence of tampering. The assembly includes a plug housing with a seal cover attached thereto, the seal cover including latching arms. A wire dress cover is attached over the seal cover, and a locking element is placed through the wire dress cover and is rotatably latched in place to the latching arms. The locking element overlies a jack screw, which prevents the disconnection of the plug housing or removal of a wire cover without first removing the locking element.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2008Date of Patent: December 1, 2009Assignee: Tyco Electronics CorporationInventors: Scott M Cross, David A Klein, Joel D Sandburg

Patent number: 7524215Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes an electrical connector with one or more latch receptacles, and a cover with one or more latches, in which the latch receptacles and latches are polarized so that a latch engages with a latch receptacle when the connector and the cover are aligned in a pre-determined orientation. In certain embodiments, the electrical connector has at least two latch receptacles, one of them being a first width and others being of a second, different width, and there are corresponding latches also of two different widths. In certain embodiments, the latches are in pairs, and for example, at least one pair of latches and receptacles of the same width will be on opposite sides of the cover. The pairs differ in width so that the cover is “polarized” to fit in only one orientation.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2005Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: Tyco Electronics CorporationInventors: Michael H Banas, David A Klein

Patent number: 6024082Abstract: An outdoor-type cooking device for the heating and cooking of foods is disclosed. The cooking device comprises a base with a support housing extending upwardly to support a grilling enclosure. The grilling enclosure includes a cooking surface and a removable hood. The support housing is made from a non-metal material which is molded into a hollow thin walled structure. The support housing may be configured to have a decoratively shaped exterior. In addition, the support housing forms a working surface adjacent the cooking surface. The base forms a ground engaging support base as well as providing support for a fuel canister. The hollow support housing is also adapted to support and house the fuel canister. The removable hood is configured to cover the cooking surface and has a front and rear surface which extend between two spaced apart sides.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1998Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Inventors: Jeffrey N. Straubel, David A. Klein

Patent number: 6018159Abstract: A photoelectric sensing unit, especially useful for determining the passage of clear bottles or other low contrast targets on a conveyor, contains two sensors and a signal processing unit to determine the signal differential. The signal differential is compared to a selected value and sensor output is enabled or disabled. High noise immunity, resistance to target reflection, and output reliability result. The unit may correct the selected value to account for environmental change and/or unit component performance. The unit can also figure the speed of passage of the bottles.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1997Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Honeywell Inc.Inventors: Richard A. Alderman, David A. Klein, Bo Su Chen

Patent number: 5872646Abstract: A detector, such as a photodetector, is provided with a serial output and serial input capability so that a first plurality of pulses can be transmitted from the detector in a first preselected direction. The first plurality of pulses represent a coded pattern. When pulses are received by the receiver portion of the detector, the received second plurality of pulses is compared to the first plurality of pulses to determine whether or not the two pluralities of pulses represent precisely matched coded patterns. The use of coded patterns that comprise a plurality of bits, or pulses, significantly decreases the chance of a mis-identification of a received pulse as being representative of a reflected transmitted pulse.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1997Date of Patent: February 16, 1999Inventors: Richard A. Alderman, David A. Klein

Patent number: 5608207Abstract: A sensor system is provided with an amplifier that has as an input signal received from a light sensitive component. The output of the amplifier is determined by its gain factor. The output of the amplifier is continually monitored to determine whether it is in acceptable limits. When a change is required, a variable potentiometer is affected to change its resistance. The variable potentiometer is included as part of a feedback loop of the amplifier and, therefore, a change in its resistance will change the gain factor of the amplifier and achieve the appropriate magnitude of output signal from the amplifier. The system can be operated in either a pushbutton mode or an automatic gain control mode. In the pushbutton mode, the system responds to an operator request for a setup procedure to be accomplished.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 1995Date of Patent: March 4, 1997Assignee: Honeywell Inc.Inventors: Barbara A. Allen, David A. Klein, Hongzhi Kong

Patent number: 5458325Abstract: A basketball net is formed of six U-shaped strands of stiff, flexible weather-resistant material, joined together at spaced points by small connector clips. Each strand preferably is a steel cable having a plastic coating or sheath, that provides distinctive coloration and oxidation protection for the cable.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1994Date of Patent: October 17, 1995Inventors: David A. Patent number: 4149013Abstract: Process for purifying 1,12-dodecanedioic acid "DDA" by dissolving the impure DDA in hot aqueous acetic acid in the presence of phosphoric acid and a compound containing peroxidic oxygen (e.g., hydrogen peroxide, peracetic acid); filtering the solution to remove insoluble materials, e.g., iron phosphate; cooling the filtrate to recrystallize the DDA; washing the recrystallized DDA with aqueous acetic acid and then with water; and recovering the washed DDA crystals. This purified DDA is suitable for conversion into polyamide textile fiber.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 1978Date of Patent: April 10, 1979Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and CompanyInventor: David A.
