  • Patent number: 9958219
Abstract: A heat exchanger includes tubes having tube inlets, an inlet tank having therein an inlet tank space, and a dynamic baffle disposed in the inlet tank space. The inlet tank has a tank inlet. The tubes include first tubes and second tubes. The first tubes are closer to the tank inlet than the second tubes are to the tank inlet. The first tubes include a nearest tube that is, among the tubes, closest to the tank inlet. The dynamic baffle is configured to, when the fluid pressure of the thermal fluid in the inlet tank space is below a specified value, suppress the flow rates of the plurality of first tubes, and, when the fluid pressure of the thermal fluid in the inlet tank space is at or above the specified value, increase the flow rate of at least one of the plurality of the first tubes.

  • Patent number: 9533543
Abstract: A climate control system of a vehicle includes an evaporator, a first blower, and a first blower passageway that receives air blown from the first blower. The system also includes a second blower and a second blower passageway that receives air blown from the second blower and that is fluidly independent of the first blower passageway. The system further includes a ducting assembly defining a common passageway that receives air from both the first and second blower passageways. • Patent number: 9227482
Abstract: A vehicle cabin air conditioning apparatus including an airflow selecting mechanism movable between a first position to provide a first airflow mode and a second position to provide a second airflow mode. The airflow selecting mechanism restricts first airflow from flowing from a first airflow conduit to a second airflow conduit when in the first position, and permits the first airflow from flowing from the first airflow conduit to the second airflow conduit when in the second position. An electronic control unit is configured to control a first blower based on a user set front cabin airflow level and a second blower based on a user set rear cabin airflow level when in the first airflow mode. The electronic control unit controls the first blower based on the user set front cabin airflow level and the user set rear cabin airflow level when in the second airflow mode.

  • Patent number: 8784166
Abstract: An HVAC system is provided for use in a vehicle having a passenger compartment volume. The HVAC system includes a HVAC housing having a duct opening formed in an exterior sidewall thereof. An evaporator is further provided for exhausting air downstream that is cooler than the air on the upstream side. An auxiliary compartment, such as a storage bin, is spaced apart from the HVAC housing, such as in a remote location of the passenger compartment. An auxiliary duct fluidly interconnects the HVAC housing and the auxiliary compartment via the duct opening for transmitting the cool exhausted air to the auxiliary compartment to provide a cooling effect within the auxiliary location. The auxiliary duct, in some embodiments, is disposed external from the HVAC housing for improved service and retrofitting to existing HVAC systems.

  • Publication number: 20120252341
Abstract: A climate control system includes ducts and a blocking member that regulates airflow through the ducts. An evaporator is disposed within the ducting assembly. The system also includes first and second blowers that blow air across the evaporator into the ducts. Additionally, the system includes a controller that determines a first target airflow to be delivered to a first cabin area, a second target airflow to be delivered to a second cabin area, a total target airflow, and a position for the blocking member. A first percentage of the total target airflow to be delivered by the first blower is defined according to the first target airflow, the second target airflow, and the total target airflow. Moreover, the controller controls the first blower to provide the first percentage of the total target airflow and controls the blocking member to move to the determined one of the plurality of positions.

  • Publication number: 20120252340
Abstract: An air-conditioning apparatus for a vehicle cabin has an air-conditioning case defining a plurality of air intake modes. The plurality of air intake modes includes an ambient air intake mode, and a double-layered air intake mode. The double-layered air intake mode supplies ambient air to a front side of the vehicle cabin via a front air passage, and supplies a recirculation air from the vehicle cabin to the rear side of the vehicle cabin via a rear air passage. The controller controls the air-conditioning case to switch the air intake mode from the double-layered air intake mode to the ambient air intake mode, when an evaporator temperature falls below a first threshold value.
