Patent number: 11047898Abstract: A system and associated method determines the characteristics of an electric network including distance to a fault through the use of a power divider and a measuring device that measures a quantity from which voltage magnitude can be determined. The measuring device may be a power detector. The power detector may include a power meter to measure voltage and/or a power sensor to measure amplitude. Then, the results from the power detector are used in conjunction with a Hilbert transform to estimate the phase associated with at least two voltage magnitudes when a combined signal is a minimum phase signal.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2019Date of Patent: June 29, 2021Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 10775423Abstract: A system and method for analyzing a device under test is provided. The system includes a signal source for generating an incident signal. The incident signal is routed to one or more inputs of the device under test. The system further includes signal separation and routing circuitry for measuring a portion of the incident signal to provide a reference signal and for separating the incident signal and a reflected signal at the one or more inputs of the device under test. The signal separation circuitry for separating the incident signal and the reflected signal at the input of the device under test is accomplished by a resistive device. Patent number: 10531185Abstract: A stackable horn configured such that a plurality of substantially identical horns can be stacked to form an array. Each horn diminishes in interior area from a mouth to a throat thereof and is vertically taller and longitudinally deeper than it is wide. The horn or array may be secured to a support. In the array, the horns are similar or identical and are arranged side-by-side with a space in between or in abutting contact. An aperture is defined in the throat of each horn and a microphone is positioned within the throat of each horn in the array. The arrangement of horns in the array permits beamforming and as a result allows simultaneous detection, tracking, and identification of multiple targets. Listening distance is greatly increased by utilizing the horn or the array of horns.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2018Date of Patent: January 7, 2020Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 8861816Abstract: A method of processing graphical image data representing optically scanned medication-related units may include receiving image data generated responsive to disposal of the units on a tray disposed a distance from an image acquisition component, the image data including data indicative of visually observable features of the units disposed on the tray. The method further includes comparing at least two features among the visually observable features from the image data to reference data indicative of corresponding features of reference units. The reference data is selected for comparison based on an identification of the reference data as corresponding to a prescription being processed. The reference data includes data indicative of features of the reference units extracted from images captured using hardware corresponding to hardware used to generate the image data. The method further includes generating a likelihood rating for each of the at least two features based on the comparing.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2011Date of Patent: October 14, 2014Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: David A. Patent number: 8682047Abstract: A method of processing graphical image data representing optically scanned medication-related units may include receiving image data generated responsive to an application of light to a tray disposed a distance from an image acquisition component. The application of light may distinguish a background field from a plurality of the units disposed on the tray. The method may further include processing the image data to identify objects that correspond to respective ones of the units from the background field, counting the objects identified as corresponding to respective ones of the units, and generating an annotated image including at least a sequential number associated each one of the objects identified as corresponding to respective ones of the units.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2011Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: David A. Patent number: 7599516Abstract: A machine-vision-based counter includes an image acquisition component (imager), wherein light provides discrimination between a background field and imageable units located away from the imager. The imager outputs data representing the field and units; an image processor receiving imager data finds countable units therein. An operator interface accepts command inputs and presents count output. A controller manages image acquisition, processor, and operator interface functions. A counting method includes configuring an imager to detect light, directing light from a source to units positioned to be detected by the imager, and directing the light to the imager.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2006Date of Patent: October 6, 2009Assignee: Illinois Tool Works Inc.Inventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 4842085Abstract: The present invention is a multiple range electronic weigh scale which employs a single load cell and selectable amplifier gain. A more sensitive range would employ a higher gain amplification than a less sensitive range. In accordance with the preferred embodiment, the amplified load cell signal is applied to an analog to digital converter and the digital output is applied to a microprocessor. The microprocessor enables selection between the weight ranges based upon the relationship of the digital output to upper and lower limit values. The microprocessor also generates the output weight signal for display based upon the product of the digital output and the selected gain. In a further embodiment the microprocessor generates a digital offset signal which is applied to the inverting input of a differential amplified via a digital to analog converter. This permits the starting point of the most sensitive range of the electronic weigh scale to be adjusted to any desired point in the higher range.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1988Date of Patent: June 27, 1989Assignee: GSE, IncorporatedInventor: David A.
