  • Patent number: 11422051
Abstract: A device for use in pressure sensing such as hydrocephalus shunts, having a housing enclosing a chamber with at least one port communicating with the chamber. A wall of the chamber includes a flexible portion or thin diaphragm that deflects with transitions in pressure to contact an upstand structure of the housing. A pressure sensor is contained within an enclosure sealed from the chamber by a flexible membrane and which receives fluid pressure from the chamber. • Publication number: 20150297094
Abstract: A method for determining a flow rate of a substance in an environment includes positioning a device having a balanced circuit in or on an object or within a particular environment, wherein the balanced circuit comprises elements which are operationally sensitive to changes in a parameter of the object or the environment. The method further includes measuring a common mode signal of the balanced circuit and determining, from the common mode signal, a value of the flow rate. An exemplary implementation of the method includes determining temperature using a resistive sensor having a Wheatstone bridge circuit with two variable resistors and two fixed resistors. Embodiments of systems and devices configured to employ such methods are provided, particularly medical probes, electronic signal monitoring devices, and systems employing such devices.

  • Publication number: 20110200244
Abstract: A tomogram taken on an imaging path of a tomograph is corrected by using sets of tomogram correction data for neighbouring positions on that path, in an interpolative process. An error map of a tomograph is built up by comparing tomograms of a phantom with the expected appearance of the phantom at the tomogram positions. Also provided is a phantom having a body with one or more imaging fluid receptacles formed therein.

  • Publication number: 20100106475
Abstract: A biophysical virtual model of a body or body section of a human subject contains measured parameter values, scan data and images from surface or full body imaging systems, and also descriptive and subject identification data. Data in the model are applied to customize external objects ergonomically to fit a subject, by adjustment or by selection when the objects are configured for one or a group of subjects. The database can be centralized and/or mobile devices carried by users can supply model data to external apparatus. Where a parameter value needed for a subject is unknown, the statistical distribution of the database and the correlation of parameters can supply a probable value and level of certainty. In connection with values that are known for an individual, complexities inherent in the combination of plural parameters can be collected in the model and used in later security screens to confirm the identity of a subject.

  • Patent number: 5406294
Abstract: A floating antenna system which can be deployed and retrieved by an underwater diver is equipped with a pressure proof radome atop an elongated support stalk carrying a lobed, inverted pyramidoidal flotation collar below the radome which can be folded and wrapped transversely around the support stalk like an umbrella when deflated. The air supply for inflation is carried in a pressurized canister inside the support stalk. The collar is inflated via an inflation line from the canister controlled be a manually operated pushbutton valve. The antenna inside the radome is connected to a long tether cable which can be connected to a separate receiver or transmitter below the surface. The tether cable can be manipulated to control deployment and retrieval of the floating antenna.
