  • Publication number: 20220211923
Abstract: A surgical kit for providing a cryoprotective composition configured to be applied during cryotreatment of a patient includes: a first container containing a predetermined amount or volume of a biodegradable and/or bioerodible fluid agent; and a second container containing a predetermined amount or volume of a non-toxic cryoprotectant agent. The predetermined amount or volume of the of biodegradable and/or bioerodible fluid agent and the predetermined amount or volume of a non-toxic cryoprotectant agent are configured to be mixed together to form the cryoprotective composition in which a therapeutically effective amount of the cryoprotective composition deposited in a body space of the patient in proximity to the cryotreatment remains within at least a portion of the body space for a duration of the cryotreatment and at least a portion of a body tissue proximate to the body space is viable after the cryotreatment.

A therapeutically effective amount of the cryoprotective composition deposited in a body space of the patient in proximity to the cryotreatment remains within at least a portion of the body space for a duration of the cryotreatment. At least a portion of a body tissue proximate to the body space is viable after the cryotreatment. A method of protecting a surgical site during prostate cryosurgery is also provided. The method includes injecting a therapeutically effective amount of the cryoprotective composition into the body space, wherein the body space is a periprostatic space of a patient.

  • Publication number: 20190145926
Abstract: A detector or sensor including a transistor having a sensor element that generates a current when exposed to a stimulus such as light or a chemical, in one implementation, the sensor element is positioned between a transistor gate and a transistor channel. When the sensor element is not being exposed to the stimulus, the transistor outputs a first voltage on a transistor drain contact when the transistor inverts. When the sensor element is being exposed to the stimulus, the transistor outputs a second voltage on the transistor drain contact when the transistor inverts, where the second voltage is higher than the first voltage.

  • Patent number: 10278649
Abstract: A technique for classifying lesions as malignant or benign is disclosed. The technique can include: cooling an area of skin including a lesion of a patient to initiate a warm-up process; receiving a temporal sequence of thermal images of the area of skin representing a thermal recovery of the area of skin, the temporal sequence of thermal images generated by an infrared camera; generating a temporal profile of the thermal recovery based on the temporal sequence of thermal images; analyzing temporal statistical properties of the temporal profile; determining a malignancy probability that the lesion is malignant based on an analysis of the temporal profile, wherein the determining includes extracting one or more statistical features based on continuous-time stochastic signals in the sequence of thermal images; and classifying the lesion based on the malignancy probability.
