  • Patent number: 9790681
Abstract: A stay-in-place lining is provided for lining a structure fabricated from concrete. The lining comprises a plurality of panels connectable via complementary connector components on their longitudinal edges. Each panel comprises a first connector component on a first longitudinal edge thereof and a second (complementary) connector component on a second longitudinal edge thereof. The lining comprises at least one edge-to-edge connection between the first connector component of a first panel and the second connector component of a second panel, the edge-to-edge connection comprising a protrusion of the first panel extended into a receptacle of the second panel through a receptacle opening. The receptacle is shaped to prevent removal of the protrusion from the receptacle and the receptacle is resiliently deformed by the extension of the protrusion into the receptacle to thereby apply a restorative force to the protrusion to maintain the edge-to-edge connection.

  • Patent number: 9784005
Abstract: Apparatus covering at least a portion of a surface of an existing structure with a repair structure comprise: a plurality of longitudinally and transversely extending panels connected to one another in edge-adjacent relationship; and a plurality of standoffs connected to the panels and extending from the panels toward the existing structure. Each panel comprises a panel connector component which extends longitudinally along the panel and from an interior surface of the panel toward the existing structure, and each standoff comprises a standoff connector component complementary to the panel connector component. The connector components are shaped such that a connection formed therebetween comprises deformation of at least one of the panel connector component and the standoff connector component and creates corresponding restorative deformation forces that prevent relative movement between the panel and the standoff under the force of gravity.

  • Patent number: 9772912
Abstract: Systems and methods utilize a configurable and fault-tolerant baseboard management controller (BMC) arrangement in a multi-node system. In one example, the method may include designating a first BMC of the plurality of BMCs in a role of master BMC, determining that the first BMC can no longer serve the role of master BMC, and designating the BMC other than the first BMC to serve the role of the master BMC.

  • Publication number: 20170147810
Abstract: A source of side-loaded software is determined. An action may be performed in response to the determination of the source. In one case, the handling of an application on a mobile device may be based on whether the source of the application is trusted or untrusted. If a software application being newly-installed on a mobile device of a user is determined to be untrusted, installation or execution is blocked. In one approach, the determination of the source includes: determining whether a first source identifier of a first application matches a white list of source identifiers or a black list of source identifiers; and sending the first source identifier, a first application identifier, and a signature of authorship for the first application to a different computing device.

  • Patent number: 9658142
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for extraction and collection of sets of one or more cells from a formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sample. A laser is used to remove sets of one or more cells from an immobilized sample within a microfluidic device, and a fluid flow element washes the removed set of one or more cells away from the immobilized sample, preferably to be collected in a downstream sample collection device. Morphological and/or positional information may be preserved to permit at least one technique (e.g., amplification, sequencing, and/or analytical, optionally performed after cells are lysed downstream of the microfluidic device) to be related to the original spatial location of the set of one or more cells in the immobilized sample.

  • Patent number: 9584221
Abstract: An optical transmitter, comprising: a master laser device for generating a master signal; one or more slave laser devices, injected with the master signal such that signals generated by the one or more slave laser devices are phase-locked with the master signal; an input for receiving one or more data streams to be transmitted, the one or more data streams being used to modulate respectively the one or more slave laser devices, such that each signal generated by the one or more slave laser devices respectively comprises a modulated part and a carrier part; and an interfering arrangement, for destructively interfering the signals generated by the one or more slave laser devices with a signal derived from the master signal, so as to generate an output signal in which the carrier part is at least partially cancelled. In embodiments, the transmitter comprises multiple slave laser devices, whose outputs can be coherently multiplexed together to generate multiple-bit output signals.

  • Patent number: 9569643
Abstract: Mobile devices typically have some form of audio capabilities designed to be operated by the device's user, for example to place phone calls; however, if a device is misplaced or stolen, the user may wish to operate those audio capabilities remotely. Methods are provided for detecting that a security event has occurred on a portable electronic device and then establishing an audio transmission between the device and one or more clients, and in some embodiments, sending a command to initiate the audio transmission. The detection of a security event may be based on, for example, detecting that the device has been turned on, detecting movement of the device, detecting that an incorrect password has been entered, the device camera has been used, contacts have been added or deleted, the SIM card as been removed or replaced, application programs have been installed or uninstalled from the device, or uncharacteristic behavior has been detected.

  • Patent number: 9544396
Abstract: In many cases, it is desirable to remotely install a software application on a mobile device that performs a function without requiring user intervention on the device, such as in the case where a device is lost or stolen. In one embodiment, a method implemented on the mobile device after installation of the software includes: determining an identifier for a computing device associated with the user; performing a function of the mobile device to obtain information regarding the mobile device; and sending the information for delivery to the computing device using the identifier. In one embodiment, software can be remotely installed on a device that, when installed, locates the device and transmits the location to an email address associated with the device so that a user can recover the device if it is lost or stolen.

  • Publication number: 20160376799
Abstract: A tool is used for assembling at least a portion of a stay-in-place form-work for casting a structure from concrete, the form-work comprising first and second elongate panels having first and second edge components and connectable in an edge-to-edge relationship wherein the first and second edge components engage one another. The tool comprises: a first arm having a first handle, the first arm terminating at a first tool head; and a second arm having a second handle, the second arm terminating at a second tool head and pivotally attached to the first arm by a pivot joint. The first tool head comprises a first protrusion for engaging the first edge component. The second tool head comprises a second protrusion for engaging the second edge component; the first and second handles are moveable toward one another in a manner which forces the first and second tool heads toward one another thereby forcing the first and second edge components into a locked configuration.

  • Publication number: 20160305139
Abstract: An existing concrete structure is repaired by covering at least a portion of the existing structure with a repair structure. Standoff retainers (each comprising an elongated member, fastener-receiving features and standoff-engaging curves) are mounted to the existing structure. Fasteners extend through the one or more fastener-receiving features and into the existing structure. Standoffs are coupled to the standoff retainers and extend away from the existing structure by extending the elongated members through apertures in the standoffs and locating each of the standoffs at a location of one of the standoff-engaging curves. Panels are coupled to the standoffs at locations spaced apart from the existing structure. Curable material is introduced to the space between the panels and the existing structure. The panels act as a formwork for containing the curable material until the curable material cures to provide a repair structure cladded by the panels.
