  • Patent number: 10190911
Abstract: A targeting system for a spectrophotometer includes a plurality of fiber channels, including at least one measurement channel and at least one illumination channel. A slit assembly includes a translucent layer disposed adjacent the plurality of fiber channels, and reflective portion disposed adjacent the translucent layer. Each fiber channel includes a first end, the first end offset from the reflective portion of the slit assembly to allow light transfer from one fiber channel to an adjacent fiber channel. A light source is in optical communication with the at least one illumination channel. A sample plane is in optical communication with a second end of the measurement channel. The system is configured such that light is transmitted from the light source, through the at least one illumination channel, reflected off the slit assembly, transmitted through the measurement channel, and onto the sample plane.

  • Patent number: 9889391
Abstract: A degasser includes a vessel having a series of chambers. Liquid containing a gas is directed through the vessel and the chambers therein. A stripping gas is injected into the vessel and moves through the vessel in a counter-current direction relative to the flow of liquid. More particularly, the stripping gas moves from one chamber to another chamber in an upstream direction (relative to the flow of the liquid) and is mixed with the liquid in each chamber, causing gas in the liquid to be displaced. Displaced gas is vented from the vessel at a location near where the liquid enters the vessel.

  • Patent number: 8139220
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a point-of-purchase (POP) spectrophotometer for open-viewing of a color sample. The POP spectrophotometer includes a housing assembly containing an illumination optical system and an imaging optical system in desired orientation. Also provided is at least one of a second illumination optical system, a sheen detection system, and a camera system. The housing assembly includes a chassis in secure arrangement with a plurality of supports that define a target plane having a target location and that space the chassis therefrom. The chassis is configured to position the illumination, imaging, sheen detection, and/or camera systems in desired orientations relative to the target location and each other. The POP spectrophotometer can include an alignment device and/or targeting optics for facilitating user-identification of the target location, and means can be provided to enhance insensitivity to ambient light and/or depth variation of the color sample.

  • Publication number: 20060249715
Abstract: Disclosed is a method to reduce flame spread within a room by attaching an interior finish compising at least 80 weight percent of a polymer composition to a ceiling, one or more walls, or combination thereof, wherein the interior finish partially or completely detaches from the wall or ceiling upon exposure to the heat of a flame. The polymer composition has certain properties of crystallization half-time, heat release capacity, and char generation and can comprise one or more polymers. The interior finish may detach or partially detach from the ceiling or wall as a result its thermal behavior when exposed to heat or as a result of softening or melting of fasteners. The spacing of the fasteners of the interior finish is dependent on the physical properties of the polymer.

  • Publication number: 20060111519
Abstract: Disclosed are polyester blends that provide improved stress whitening behavior. The blends may be prepared from a polyester having crystallization half-time of at least 5 minutes and a polyester elastomer. The polyesters blends may be extruded or, in the presence of a release additive, calendered to produce film or sheet. Also disclosed are processes for making a film or sheet by extrusion or calendering the above blends and the film or sheet produced therefrom. The polyester blend and the film or sheet produced therefrom also may include plasticizers and/or flame retardants to increase their flexibility and enable their use in commercial applications requiring flame resistance. The film and sheet have excellent appearance and can be used in a wide range of decorative and packaging applications.
