Patent number: 7324897Abstract: Techniques are provided for displaying a route symbol with narrative driving directions. A route symbol for a particular maneuver may be used to represent the road to which the maneuver relates. For example, one type of a route symbol that may be used to represent a road may be an interstate route symbol that has substantially the same appearance (e.g., substantially the same or similar shape, and/or substantially the same coloration) as an interstate route sign used to mark the interstate itself. Another example of a type of a route symbol that represents a road is an highway route symbol that looks substantially the same as a highway route sign used to mark a state highway. A route symbol used for the display of a maneuver also may include route symbols that are related to the type of maneuver, such as the type of a turn, described by the maneuver.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2006Date of Patent: January 29, 2008Assignee: AOL LLCInventor: Michael David Schmitz

Patent number: 7171864Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for controlling writing instruments, in particular ball-point pens, on paper, which consists in guiding the writing instrument relative to the paper plane in a repeated movement and displacing the paper in forward direction. The movement are thus coordinated so that the line obtained forms a meandering pattern which consists in rectilinear trajectories. The invention also concerns the device for implementing said method.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2004Date of Patent: February 6, 2007Assignee: Societe BICInventors: David Schmitz, legal representative, Anne Schmitz, legal representative, Friedrich Schachter, deceased

Patent number: 7007533Abstract: The invention relates to a device called a rotating head which is used to deform the edge of the points or nibs of ball-point pens. The inventive device has two rotating rolls which are installed so that they can pivot freely in the rotating head. The rotating rolls can turn freely around aligned axes. The rolls each have forming disks and are arranged to define a gap between the front surfaces of the forming disks. A tongue having a V-shaped end face is disposed in the gaps and can be moved against a spring. The tongue engages a tip ball in a nib positioned between the rotating rolls to be formed into a finished nib.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2004Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: Société BicInventors: David Schmitz, Anne Schmitz

Publication number: 20040177438Abstract: A spa apparatus includes a chair and a basin supported by a base. The basin is movable in an up/down direction relative to a portion of the base. The chair may include actuators to tilt forward to permit easy entry and exit from the chain. The chair may also move in a fore/aft direction relative to the basin. A pair of foot rests may be located within the basin. A manicure assembly may be located within a cavity in the arm of the chair. The basin may have a narrowed front portion to allow a technician to easily fact the customer. A base may include two support frames that pivot relative to one another proximate an end of the base distal the basin.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 23, 2003Publication date: September 16, 2004Applicant: European Touch Holdings, Inc.Inventors: David J. Patent number: 6769355Abstract: An auto-positioning inching control for a mechanical press allows a press operator to select one of a plurality of preset slide stop zones in which the slide may be stopped. A programmable logic controller is utilized to compute values of clutch dropout which will operatively position the slide in one of a plurality of preselected slide stop zones. An additional inching mechanism may be utilized for further movement of the slide within the preselected slide stop zone.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 2000Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: The Minster Machine CompanyInventor: David Schmitz

Patent number: 6654661Abstract: A control system enables a press operator to selectively position the slide at a specific resting location corresponding to an absolute dimension of the slide travel path, such as an angular measure relative to the top dead center position of the press machine crankshaft. A programmable limit switch module manages the operation of a brake-clutch combination by commanding a clutch control circuit to actuate disengagement of the clutch at the proper moment so that the slide will subsequently come to rest at the selected resting location. The module includes a programmable limit switch connected to a press speed resolver and a dedicated on-board processor configured to receive the speed data. The processor collects the speed data using a polling operation having very low scan time.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2002Date of Patent: November 25, 2003Assignee: The Minster Machine CompanyInventor: David Schmitz

Patent number: 6142841Abstract: A maneuvering control system is provided which utilizes pressurized liquid at three or more positions of a marine vessel in order to selectively create thrust that moves the marine vessel into desired locations and according to chosen movements. A source of pressurized liquid, such as a pump or a jet pump propulsion system, is connected to a plurality of distribution conduits which, in turn, are connected to a plurality of outlet conduits. The outlet conduits are mounted to the hull of the vessel and direct streams of liquid away from the vessel for purposes of creating thrusts which move the vessel as desired. A liquid distribution controller is provided which enables a vessel operator to use a joystick to selectively compress and dilate the distribution conduits to orchestrate the streams of water in a manner which will maneuver the marine vessel as desired.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1998Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Assignee: Brunswick CorporationInventors: Charles F. Patent number: 5807353Abstract: An aspiration device for separating liquid content of a body fluid and irrigation fluid if any, from solid matters, includes an integrally formed housing, and an integrally formed separating element which is detachably inter-connectable to the housing. The housing includes a proximal segment for defining a hollow space to receive part of the separating element. The separating element includes a filter element for separating the liquid content of the body fluid from the solid matters and for collecting the solid matters in the interior of the filter element. The separating element further includes an end connector for interlocking the separating element with the housing, and an egress tube for conveying the separated liquid content outside the aspiration device.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1996Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Inventor: Thomas David Schmitz
