  • Patent number: 11102163
Abstract: A communication technique for providing a mobile gateway in a radio node (such as an eNodeB) in a local wireless network that is associated with a venue is described. During the communication technique, the radio node may provide, via the mobile gateway, cellular-telephone-network services. In particular, the mobile gateway may implement functions including: providing, when an electronic device attaches to the local wireless network, an Internet Protocol (IP) address to the electronic device based on a media access control (MAC) address for the electronic device, which is, in part, provided by a mobile management entity (MME) in a cellular-telephone network; triggering, via a supported interface, paging to the electronic device when the electronic device is in idle in the local wireless network; transmitting uplink data and receiving downlink data via a cellular-telephone communication protocol (such as Long Term Evolution or LTE); and/or electronic-device mobility in the local wireless network.

  • Patent number: 10968656
Abstract: A support system for supporting power distribution or transmission lines includes a support pole having a first end and a second and a crossarm attached to the support pole, proximate the first end of the support pole. The crossarm has a first end, a second end and one or more side walls extending between the first and second ends of the crossarm. The side walls of the crossarm define an elongated interior space. The support system further includes an internal conduit formed in the interior space of the crossarm. The internal conduit extends along an axial direction of the crossarm. • Publication number: 20210075618
Abstract: An electronic device that selectively approves secure access of a second electronic device to a network is described. This electronic device receives an access request associated with a computer, where the access request includes passphrase parameters associated with a user, and the passphrase parameters include inputs to and an output of a cryptographic calculation. In response, the electronic device calculates one or more second outputs of the cryptographic calculation based at least in part on the inputs and one or more stored passphrases. Moreover, when there is a match between one of the one or more second outputs and the output, the electronic device accesses a policy associated with the user. Then, when one or more criteria associated with the policy are met, the electronic device selectively provides an access acceptance message to the computer, which includes information for establishing the secure access of the second electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20210013992
Abstract: During operation, an electronic device may emulate client functionality associated with a virtual client in a wireless network, where emulating the client functionality includes generating a first frame that is compatible with a wireless communication protocol and is associated with fictious wireless communication with the virtual client. Then, the electronic device may provide, to a computer, a second frame that includes at least a portion of the first frame, where the second frame is compatible with a wired communication protocol. Next, the electronic device may receive, from the computer, a response message based at least in part on the first frame, where the response message includes information associated with a service provided by the computer. Moreover, the electronic device may assess the service based at least in part on the information and may selectively perform the remedial action based at least in part on the assessment.

  • Publication number: 20200404582
Abstract: A communication technique for establishing communication among an access point, an electronic device, and a radio node in a cellular-telephone network is described. In this communication technique, the electronic device is pre-provisioned by the radio node with an identifier of the cellular-telephone network. Moreover, the access point may advertise support for one or more LWA protocols in beacons. In response to a query from the electronic device, the access point may provide identifiers of the one or more cellular-telephone networks supported by the access point. If one of these identifiers matches the identifier, the electronic device may associate with the access point. Then, the access point may receive LWA traffic from the radio node and may forward the LWA traffic to the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 10754912
Abstract: Representative embodiments disclose mechanisms to improve the perceived responsiveness of a search engine. As a user types a query prefix into a browser or other interface to the search engine, the search engine returns query completion suggestions to the browser. The query completion suggestions, user history, user favorites and/or other information are presented to a trained machine learning model on the client device to predict a desired location that the user is attempting to navigate to. When the confidence level of the predicted location surpasses a threshold, content from the desired location is preloaded into a hidden tab in the browser. When the user submits a query, the browser submits feedback to a system responsible for updating and refining the machine learning model. Updated machine learning model coefficients can be received by the browser from the system to make predictions more accurate.

  • Publication number: 20200162188
Abstract: A technique for testing wireless-local-area-network (WLAN) infrastructure is described. In particular, a radio-frequency abstraction layer (RFAL) in a physical instance of an electronic device is used to simulate the physical layer communication hardware and radio channels. RFAL allows frames in initial packets that are compatible with a WLAN communication protocol (such as an IEEE 802.11 standard) to be encapsulated in the data-link layer into additional packets that are compatible with a network communication protocol (such as an IEEE 802.3 standard). These additional packets can include information that characterizes transmission of the packet through a simulated radio-frequency environment so that the software stack associated with a physical or virtual instance of an electronic device can be exercised as if the packet had been received over a wireless connection. Then, the additional packets can be communicated via Ethernet (i.e.

  • Publication number: 20200142540
Abstract: Trace transfer techniques can be used to couple touch electrodes to touch sensing circuitry with a reduced border region around a touch sensor panel. Touch electrodes on a first side of the substrate can be routed to a bond pad region on the second side of the substrate via a trace transfer technique to enable single-sided bonding of a double-sided touch sensor panel. Trace transfer techniques can also be used to couple conductive traces on a first side of the substrate to a flex circuit oriented perpendicular to or otherwise not parallel to the first side of the substrate. Orienting the flex circuit in this way can allow the flex circuit to connect to touch circuitry with reduced bending as compared with the amount of bending of the flex circuit when oriented substantially parallel to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 10521049
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a touch screen including a first electrode layer, a second electrode layer, and a third electrode layer. The touch screen can include shield-sensor vias connecting the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer and shield-shield vias connecting the first electrode layer and the third electrode layer, for example. The shield-sensor vias can be placed in a bond pad region of the touch screen, which can further include connections between one or more routing traces connected to one or more touch electrodes and touch or other circuitry further included in the electronic device. The shield-shield vias can be placed in an outer region located around an inner region of the touch screen. In some examples, one or more routing traces can include diverted portions to maintain a threshold distance between the routing traces and the one or more shield-shield vias.

  • Patent number: 10389581
Abstract: In order to configure an access point, the access point requests information specifying an associated cloud-based controller when the access point is first turned on at a user location. In particular, the access point may provide, to a configuration device, a controller query requesting information specifying a unique network address of a cloud-based controller associated with the access point. This controller query may include an identifier of the access point (such as a serial number). Then, the access point receives, from the configuration device, the information specifying the unique network address of the cloud-based controller, such as a fully qualified domain name of the cloud-based controller. Note that the cloud-based controller may be one of multiple cloud-based controllers from different providers, and the access point may be associated with the cloud-based controller based on the received information specifying unique network address.
