Patent number: 7533500Abstract: A deck plank is co-extruded from an extrusion die which receives molten plastics materials supplied from three separate plastic extruders to provide the plank with opposite sides having different colors. Preferably, the base plank is extruded from a lower cost material such as reground scrap polyvinylchloride (PVC), and thin PVC cap layers are co-extruded on opposite sides of the base plank in different colors. Opposite edges of each plank have longitudinally extending grooves for receiving hidden fasteners in the form of screws extending through short flat tie pieces or a continuous sealing tie strip projecting into the opposing grooves of adjacent planks.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2003Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: Deceuninck North America, LLCInventors: Philip G. Morton, David A. Stammen, Todd J. Hamilton, Scott A. Ricke

Patent number: 6968657Abstract: Sections of extruded rigid plastics material form a rectangular main frame including a pair of vertical jamb members, a top head member and a bottom sill member connected by welded mitered corners. An extruded plastic astragal member is spaced between the jamb members and has laterally projecting stop portions and internal walls which are rigidly connected by long screws to the head and sill members. A fixed door panel and a pivotal door panel have extruded plastic rectangular frames with welded mitered corner joints and which surround corresponding glazing panels. A continuous gear hinge has an inactive leaf secured to the astragal member and a slightly shorter active leaf. The door panel frames have internal walls which cooperate with the welded corner joints to maintain each frame flat, and long screws positively connect the leaves of the gear hinge to the pivotal door panel frame and the astragal member.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2001Date of Patent: November 29, 2005Assignee: Deceuninck North America, LLCInventors: Paul A. Siudzinski, Jonathan C. Hauberg, David A. Stammen, Donald F. Schmidt, Dennis D. Cox

Patent number: 6675537Abstract: A double hung window assembly includes a rectangular frame formed by a pair of vertical jamb members connected by a horizontal sill member and a horizontal head member. Each of the members comprises a one-piece extrusion of rigid plastics material, and the members are rigidly connected with upper and lower welded mitered corner joints. The jamb and sill members have outer walls for the rough window opening and laterally spaced inner sloping walls which mate at the bottom corner joints. The jamb members also have inner channel walls spaced laterally inwardly of the corresponding sloping walls to define channels for receiving hardware for upper and lower sash frames each including extrusions of rigid plastics material.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2002Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: Dayton Technologies, L.L.C.Inventors: Philip G. Morton, Ricky Hoskins, David A. Stammen, Jonathan C. Hauberg

Patent number: 6055782Abstract: A window frame includes tubular sill, head and jamb members of extruded plastics material, and each member has laterally spaced inner and outer walls integrally connected by laterally extending transverse walls. A nailing flange projects laterally outwardly from each outer wall for securing the frame within a wall opening, and each frame member has an integral exterior portion projecting outwardly from the corresponding nailing flanges. The exterior portion of each frame member cooperates with an exterior transverse wall to define a groove or channel extending laterally inwardly from the outer wall for receiving the edge portion of exterior siding. Narrower frame members also have cavities within the interior transverse walls for receiving the edge portions of interior wood sill, head and jamb extenders.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1998Date of Patent: May 2, 2000Assignee: Dayton Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Philip G.
