  • Publication number: 20240010673
Abstract: Protein complexes are profound in various biological processes, and their ability to self-associate offers exciting opportunities for innovative biomaterials. However, the weak physical interactions within protein complexes result in limited mechanical stability and fast erosion rates, posing a significant challenge. Thus, a SAv-based hydrogel where SAv tetramers serve as crosslinking junctions is described herein. These mechanically reinforced SAv tetramers significantly enhanced the shear elasticity and decelerated the bioerosion process of the overall material. This simple approach to modulate the mechanical strength of protein complexes as crosslinking junctions present an attractive prospect for a myriad of biotechnological applications, such as biomimetic scaffolds and soft robotics.

  • Publication number: 20220255895
Abstract: Determining a resolved domain name service (DNS) response based on one or more resolutions for a received access point name (APN) DNS query is disclosed. A resolved DNS response can be based on real-time analysis of a first query and/or on historical resolution of a second query that is sufficiently similar to the first query. In an aspect, training queries can be employed to populate a data store with preferred DNS responses correlated to the training queries and associated network conditions. The data store can then be employed to evaluate a received query, and where sufficiently similar to a training query, corresponding resolution from the training query can be provided as a resolution for the received query. Moreover, as stored query information is determined to become stale, refreshment techniques are disclosed. Additionally, training queries can comprise anticipated queries and historical queries.

  • Patent number: 11342482
Abstract: Gallium nitride based devices and, more particularly to the generation of holes in gallium nitride based devices lacking p-type doping, and their use in light emitting diodes and lasers, both edge emitting and vertical emitting. By tailoring the intrinsic design, a wide range of wavelengths can be emitted from near-infrared to mid ultraviolet, depending upon the design of the adjacent cross-gap recombination zone. The innovation also provides for novel circuits and unique applications, particularly for water sterilization.

  • Patent number: 7085246
Abstract: An apparatus for acquiring a pseudo-random (PN) sequence timing for a code division multiple access (CDMA) radiotelephone. A buffer stores samples of representations of at least one pilot signal. A correlator coupled to the buffer is operable to correlate at least a portion of the samples with a PN sequence at each of a plurality of different PN offsets to produce corresponding correlation energies. A controller coupled to the correlator interrupts the correlator as soon as the PN sequence at a particular PN offset produces a correlation energy at least equal to an energy threshold.

  • Publication number: 20060138737
Abstract: A water caddy for capturing, containing, transporting, and emptying a fluid includes an open top fluid container pivotally attached to a cabinet set on wheels. The fluid container is pivotable between a fill position in which the container receives fluid through the open top and an empty position in which fluid is emptied from the container through the open top without having to lift any portion of the cabinet. A pneumatic actuator interconnecting the cabinet and fluid container assists the user in emptying the fluid container by urging the fluid container toward its empty position. The water caddy 10 may be dimensioned to enable a user to conveniently empty captured fluid directly into an existing floor toilet. One or more brakes are employed to inhibit inadvertent movement of the water caddy as it is being filled or emptied.

  • Patent number: 7031271
Abstract: A method of activating a radiotelephone operable in a spread-spectrum multiple access radiotelephone system. A searcher receiver (114) is activated, and the searcher receiver (114) acquires a PN sequence timing of a pilot signal. At least one demodulation branch (122) is activated after activation of the searcher receiver (114), and the demodulation branch synchronizes to the PN sequence timing of the selected pilot signal after the searcher receiver (114) has acquired the PN sequence timing.

  • Patent number: 6444117
Abstract: The general object of this invention is to provide an improved process for sweetening and desulfurizing sulfur-containing crude oil streams. Heating the sulfur-containing crude oil stream to an elevated temperature for an extended period of time while stirring and bubbling an inert gas into the crude accelerates the removal of sulfur containing gases from the crude oil stream. Furthermore, the addition of a polyalkylamine to the stirred crude oil can also greatly assist in the expulsion of sulfur containing gases. After processing under these conditions, the hydrogen sulfide producing capacity of the crude oil is reduced significantly, thus making the crude safer for transportation and handling by reducing the health and environmental risks.

  • Patent number: 6178980
Abstract: A method of reducing the viscosity of a heavy oil flowing through a pipe is disclosed. The method includes mixing heavy oil, water and an effective amount of C1 to C10 alcohol so as to reduce the viscosity by at least 20% that of the heavy oil. The amount of water present in the heavy oil should be less than about 50% vol. and preferably from about 1% vol. to about 10% vol. The alcohol preferably should be a primary linear alcohol and more preferably is a C3 to C7 primary linear alcohol which may be selected from 1-propanol, 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, 1-hexanol, 1-heptanol or combinations thereof The concentration of alcohol should be less that 10% by weight of the mixture. The mixture may further include a polymeric drag reducing agent in a concentration from about 1 to about 10,000 ppm.
