  • Publication number: 20050214394
Abstract: Methods and compositions for prevention and therapy of cancer using a therapeutically effective amount of an extract of Hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn) leaves, berries, and seeds are provided. Novel uses of these compositions in different stages of cancer therapy are disclosed. Novel compositions comprising Hippophae rhamnoides extracts that preferentially inhibit COX-2 over COX-1 are provided. Compositions comprising therapeutically effective amounts of at least one chemotherapeutic agent in addition to Hippophae rhamnoides are provided.

  • Publication number: 20050208070
Abstract: Methods and compositions for prevention and therapy of cancer are provided. Compositions comprising therapeutically effective amounts of two or more of an extract of Ganoderma lucidum, an extract of Salvia miltiorrhiza and an extract of Scutellaria barbata and optionally a therapeutically effective amount of an extract of Hippophae rhamnoides are provided. Novel synergistic effects of the use of these compounds in combination therapy are disclosed. Embodiments further comprising therapeutically effective amounts of at least one chemotherapeutic agent are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20050139807
Abstract: A composition comprising aminoalkyl imidazoline or alkyl-substituted succinimide antifoulants or mixtures thereof, and use of aminoalkyl imidazolines and alkyl-substituted succinimides to prevent fouling in (meth)acrylic acid manufacturing processes and processes in which (meth)acrylic acid is used in a reaction and where unreacted (meth)acrylic acid is recovered.

  • Patent number: 6912414
Abstract: An electrode system for reducing noise from an electronic signal, the system including an electrode that provides the electronic signal, and a sensor that senses motion and provides a motion signal. The electrode system includes a controller that determines a noise value based on an analysis of the motion signal, and subtracts the noise value from the electronic signal. The electrode system can reduce or eliminate motion artifact from an electronic signal that can result in misdiagnosis, prolong procedural duration and inappropriate treatment of a patient.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 28, 2003
Date of Patent: June 28, 2005

  • Patent number: 6480111
Abstract: A method and system for physiological monitoring using a microprocessor-enhanced magnetic field sensor to measure the mechanical effects of body motion is described. The measurements may be used for a variety of applications, such as detection of respiration, cardiac rhythms, and blood pressure. The source or detector may be made sufficiently small so as to be implantable. The system is sufficiently sensitive to provide output data for very small movements.

  • Patent number: 5599004
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the installation of cable into a reel of coiled tubing includes a cable injector. The cable injector comprises a capstan drive within a pressure housing. In a preferred embodiment, the capstan comprises a drive wheel that is enclosed within the pressure housing and the pressure housing is made up of a pair of seal plates or flanges with a seal ring between them. A drive shaft penetrates one of the flanges. This arrangement minimizes the size of a rotating seal in the pressure housing.

  • Patent number: 5280293
Abstract: A mobile direction finder for tracking a remote transmitter computes the transmitter direction relative to the direction finder and time-averages with reference to a datum derived from a predetermined orientation independent of the direction finder orientation.

  • Patent number: 4809012
Abstract: Radio direction finding equipment has an array of direction finding antennas. The antennas are connected to receivers and signals from the antennas are processed, for example with a microcomputer, to give direction information derived from the phase difference between the signals. A reference antenna is also provided and this is of greater sensitivity than the other antennas. The direction information is derived from phase differences determined between the signal from the reference antenna and the signals from the other antennas.
