Publication number: 20240267470Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve consolidating toll-free features of telecommunications networks. In one implementation, the network services may be consolidated through utilization of an Enhanced Feature Server (EFS) or other type of application server deployed in a telecommunications network. The EFS may be configured to receive a toll-free communication and route the communication based on the dialed toll-free number and a carrier identification code (CIC) associated with the communication. Routing the communication based at least on the CIC associated with the communication allows the telecommunications network to consolidate (and ultimately remove) a redundant network or network components from the telecommunications network to improve the operation of the network. In circumstances where a CIC is not associated with a communication, the EFS may request a data schema from a national toll-free number database and determine a CIC for the communication based on an analysis of the data schema.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2024Publication date: August 8, 2024Applicant: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventors: David A. Tschirhart, Ken Shomaker

Publication number: 20240214305Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems, methods, computer program products, and the like, for utilizing a CIC value field in signaling information of a communication to provide an identification of the ingress network to an egress or receiving network of a long distance telecommunications network. The system and method provides for the provisioning of a signaling CIC for an ingress trunkgroup or network to a telecommunications network for downstream signaling purposes by overriding a received CIC value with a provisioned CIC value specific to the ingress network. This provisioned CIC value identifies the ingress network to the long distance network to the egress network for use by the egress network.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2024Publication date: June 27, 2024Applicant: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventor: David A. Tschirhart

Patent number: 10575366Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems, methods, computer program products, and the like, for providing disaster routing of particular communications through a telecommunications network during a network outage. The disaster routing may ensure that communications from a particular source or to a particular destination are connected to the destination even during times when portions of the network may be inoperable. In one particular embodiment, the disaster routing may be performed for emergency communications received at the network and connected to one or more emergency services configured to receive the emergency communication. However, the disaster routing mechanisms and techniques described herein may be applied or available to any type of communication from any source or customer to the telecommunications network.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2019Date of Patent: February 25, 2020Assignee: LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS, LLCInventors: Claudia M. Combellas, Dana A. Johnston, Adam C. Uzelac, David A. Tschirhart

Patent number: 10524023Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems, methods, computer program products, and the like, for providing one or more toll-free services to a customer of an enterprise telecommunications network environment. In particular, the toll-free services may be provided to the customer by one or more application servers associated with the network. Through use of the systems and methods of the present disclosure, such services may be provided for the customer regardless of the method of routing through the network requested by the customer. For example, the toll-free communication may be transmitted through the network based on a destination telephone number associated with the customer. In another example, the toll-free communication is transmitted through the network based on a destination trunk group associated with the customer.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2019Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventors: David A.
