  • Patent number: 11951609
Abstract: A prosthetic or robot part (500) is described, including at least one phalange member (532) pivotally coupled to a base (509) at a pivot axis; and a drive assembly to selectively move the phalange member about the pivot axis along a flexion/extension plane between an open position and a closed position. The drive assembly includes a drive element (512) coupled to an actuator (506) and a driven element (514) coupled to the phalange member; wherein the driven element (514) is decouplable from the drive element (512) when the phalange member is caused to move in a first rotational direction about the pivot axis by an external force.

  • Patent number: 8349125
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning the specimen and interior specimen chamber of Transmission Electron Microscopes, and similar electron- or charged-particle-beam instruments consisting of a plasma cleaning device mounted on a hollow rod that replaces the stage through the air lock of the instrument by being the same shape and size as the stage support rod. The plasma cleaning device is a small hollow cathode that is excited by RF power. Air or other oxygen containing mixtures is admitted to the plasma through the hollow rod at a pressure below 1 Torr. The plasma creates oxygen radicals from the oxygen containing gas. The oxygen radicals oxidize the hydrocarbons contamination and convert them to easily pumped gases. The apparatus can be attached to the electron microscope whenever cleaning is needed, and then is easily removed to return the instrument to its analytical function.

  • Patent number: 7261139
Abstract: An upward acting door, such as a flexible curtain rollup door, is moveable between open and closed positions by an electric motor drive unit wherein the motor has a drive shaft with an external drive tang for engagement with a hand crank member. The crank member is adapted for mounting on a wall bracket and in engagement with a switch connected to a motor control unit. When the crank member is removed from its bracket, the switch causes the motor control unit to prevent transmission of electrical power to the motor. A manually disengageable brake is associated with the motor drive unit and is connected via an actuating member to a foot pedal which may be operated by a person using the crank member to disengage the brake and to allow free rotation of the motor drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 6152207
Abstract: A tandem windbar system for a flexible curtain rollup door includes a first windbar adapted to be guided in opposed guide channels of a door assembly and supported by flexible strap members which are secured at one end to a rotatable drum for rolling a flexible curtain closure member onto and off of the drum to open and close the door. Opposite ends of the strap members are secured to stationary structure, such as the upper ends of opposed guide channels for the door curtain and the first windbar. A second windbar is supported below the first windbar by opposed flexible straps which are operably connected at one end to the first windbar by a bearing tube member which may rotate relative to and is supported on the first windbar. The straps of the second set are trained around and support the second windbar and are connected at their opposite ends to the curtain drum for rolling onto and off of the drum. The second windbar ascends and descends at 1.

  • Patent number: 5595227
Abstract: An adjustable fence assembly includes a planar fence secured with a handle having an arcuate body portion which is rotatably coupled through an arcuate trolley member with an arcuate body portion of a fence traveler. The fence is directly pivotally coupled along its lower edge to the traveler along an axis of rotation which lies generally along the lower surface of the traveler. The lower traveler surface is supported on an upper surface of a fence track, which can be adjustably mounted to the rear cover of a conventional jointer-planer. Each arcuate body portion is about 45.degree. or less in arcuate extent with respect to the pivot axis to permit the portions to collapse and the fence to be rotated from an upright position to at least a 45.degree. position away from the jointer-planer. The angular position of the fence is selectably adjustable through the use of a single threaded fastener.

  • Patent number: 4974650
Abstract: A guard stop is used with a power tool that includes a work surface, a tool head that projects at least partially through the work surface, a fence on a first side of the tool head and a safety guard pivotally supported on an opposite side of the tool head. The safety guard is biased to an initial position proximal the fence to cover the tool head. The guard stop includes a bracket plate fixedly secured to the power tool on the second side of the tool head. A stop member plate is mounted to the safety guard pivot and is pivotable with respect to both the bracket plate and the safety guard. The stop member plate is removably secured to the bracket by a bolt and threaded fastener. The bolt passes through an elongated slot in the bracket and can be secured at any desired positon along the slot. A portion of the stop plate is turned perpendicularly to that plate to form a stop portion which contacts the safety guard and prevents further rotation of the safety guard from the fence.
