  • Publication number: 20160110144
Abstract: System and methods for reconstructing a suspended print job. In one embodiment, a print controller receives a print job, and initiates construction of a sheet based on logical pages of the print job. Print controller determines a sheet number for the sheet that identifies a page number of one or more logical pages related to the construction of the sheet, an offset for the sheet that identifies an order of the sheet with respect to other sheets that share the sheet number. Print controller also assigns a sheet identifier to the sheet that includes the sheet number and the offset, and receives the sheet identifier in response to a determination to resume the print job from a suspended state. Print controller initiates processing for resuming the print job from the sheet based on the sheet number and the offset in the sheet identifier.

  • Publication number: 20160099867
Abstract: Techniques are provided to decouple service chain structure from the underlying network forwarding state and allow for data plane learning of service chain forwarding requirements and any association between services function state requirements and the forward and reverse forwarding paths for a service chain. In a network comprising a plurality of network nodes each configured to apply a service function to traffic that passes through the respective network node, a packet is received at a network node. When the network node determines that the service function it applies is stateful, it updates context information in a network service header of the packet to indicate that the service function applied at the network node is stateful and that traffic for a reverse path matching the classification criteria is to be returned to the network node.

  • Patent number: 9300564
Abstract: In one embodiment, a stateful path computation element (PCE) in a computer network determines a need to route at least a threshold number of tunnels, and in response, triggers a routing update from a determined set of routers. Having updated the routing information and available network resources for the set of routers, the stateful PCE may then compute the tunnels based on the update.

  • Publication number: 20160078116
Abstract: A method executes a preempt by a standby database appliance in a high-availability active/active appliance cluster. The appliance cluster includes a transaction processing standby group and a persistent storing standby group. The transaction processing standby group includes a primary active appliance and a standby appliance. One or more processors receive a Hello message from the primary DB appliance. The processor(s) examine a priority field in the Hello message, in order to determine a priority of the standby database appliance according to the persistent state to thereby determine whether the standby database appliance requests a preempt, where the persistent state includes a state of an application and a database of the primary DB appliance. The processor(s) implement a failover in response to the preempt request to thereby take over a duty of the primary DB appliance.

  • Patent number: 9258243
Abstract: A plurality of network nodes are deployed in a network, each network node configured to apply a service function to traffic that passes through the respective network nodes. A controller generates information for a service chain that involves application to traffic of one or more service functions at corresponding ones of the plurality of network nodes along a forward path through the one or more network nodes. The controller identifies one or more of the service functions within the service chain that is stateful. When one or more of the service functions of the service chain is stateful, the controller generates information for a reverse path through the one or more service nodes for the one or more stateful service functions. The controller binds a forward chain identifier for the forward path with a reverse chain identifier for the reverse path for the service chain.

  • Patent number: 9253041
Abstract: In one embodiment, techniques are provided to generate a Border Gateway Protocol-Link State (BGP-LS) advertisement message comprising information configured to indicate topological information associated with a Layer 0 (L0) network, where the topological information includes information for connectivity within the L0 network that is available to a Layer 3 (L3) network. The advertisement message is sent to a node in the L3 network. The message sent from the L0 network is received at the node in the L3 network. The topological information in the message is analyzed in order to determine connections available to the L3 network, yet within the L0 network. A connection request is sent from the node in the L3 network to the L0 network and connections between the nodes in L3 network are established using available connections in the L0 network.

  • Patent number: 9253255
Abstract: In general, techniques are described for managing content request referrals by keying content requests to a composite key data structure that maps end-user address prefixes and content identifiers to content delivery network servers of downstream CDNs. In one example, a CDN exchange includes a communication module to receive first network prefixes and first content identifiers from a first secondary content delivery network and to receive second network prefixes and second content identifiers from a second secondary content delivery network. A request router of the CDN exchange redirects the content request to the first secondary content delivery network or to the second secondary content delivery network according to a network address of the end user device and a content identifier for the content request.

  • Publication number: 20160006651
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques useful in a network comprising a plurality of network nodes each configured to apply one or more service functions to traffic that passes through the respective network nodes. A network node receives packets encapsulated in a service header that includes information defining a first set of context headers stacked into an association of metadata that is relevant to one or more service functions within a service path comprised of one or more network nodes. The network node performs at least one of the service functions in the service path and rewrites the service header with a second set of context headers. The second set of context headers include metadata derived from performing the service function(s) at the network node.

  • Publication number: 20150375516
Abstract: A consumable supply item for an imaging device holds an initial or refillable volume of ink. A housing defines an interior having a pair of opposed electrodes. The electrodes have a capacitance that varies in response to an amount of liquid between them. A controller energizes one electrode and receives an output reading from the other. The controller processes the reading on board the housing and supplies it as a digital data stream to the imaging device during use. A memory stores calibration values for an empty and full housing. The controller writes back to the memory present fluid levels obtained from the output reading of the electrode. An enable output allows operation or not of a fluid pump in the imaging device. Materials, construction, modularity, and fluid communication ports are further embodiments, to name a few.
